If you are just playing offline, you don't really need the blood diamond version of a card. You do after all get to select the difficulty you want to play at most of the time.
It is not about need. Sure I could set the difficulty to rookie and beat the CPU with a bunch of bronze and commons but that is not fun. I get the same satisfaction of pulling or earning a diamond that any online player would get.
At the end of the day we all pay the same admission price.
Now, I realize that the difference between the original diamond and the prestige diamond will probably be minimal and I am sure I would not want to try and grind them all. But if there is, for example, a Red Diamond Pujols card it sure would be nice as a Cardinals fan to be able to get it in some way.

Anyone feel all the things described today were a bit TOO MUCH? Moments for this, moments for that, showdown for this, showdown for that, BR, RS, events, stat grinds, 50 million different style cards all meaning something different (and inflated).
I mean, I probably play more than a lot of people and I play online and offline, but it seems like A LOT.
I just hope they haven’t spread themselves too thin and the product is [censored]. As for those plus-3 red diamonds. I’m not even sure if they’ll end up being worth it (stubs locked in and stat grind) when it sure sounds like there’s going to be millions of “end-game” cards with all these possibilities (red diamonds, signature, prime, award winners, they said LS will somehow stay relevant)
-
And headliners twice a week? That is to be solely for a cash grab. Once a week last year seemed like a good flow. And how many conquest maps this year?

It's a little overwhelming, but I'm ok with it. There is always going to be something to do, something to accomplish everytime I log in.

Last year headliners packs had multiple cards in them. This years will have one headliner per pack just multiple packs per week. Kinda the same thing except you know which headliner you are gambling towards

You are not required to do all of it you know.

The stream blew my expectations away. I absolutely cannot wait for Friday. So much in fact I'm taking the day off to play. My job actually gives us a "floating" personal day so why not burn it up.
If the servers go down I'll cry lol
-
I think it was done the right way. To me there is no "offline prestige" the only way to "prestige" is playing online.
-
Since there's no way to exchange or QS locked cards, I doubt I'll go for collections. Big part of the return from doing collections was the small stub return from LS diamonds and then the advancement of affinity with everything else. Not a fan.
But life moves on.

SDS has always favored online play because it makes you feel that you need better players so then you will buy more stubs. It is a cash grab, just like "no quick selling collected cards" is. SDS has never cared much for offline players in DD. These reasons mean that I will be only playing offline leagues this time around. I am not spending extra money just to be regulated to the 2nd class citizen status again.

Seriously? Online has RS, BR, and events. Offline has conquest, affinity, MTO (new in 19), moments (new in 19), and showdown (new in 20). SDS does an amazing job for offline. And even these red diamonds are pretty easy stat grinds online (no absurd single game missions) that you can literally do on veteran difficulty by keeping yourself at the lowest level of RS.

I agree, they have no doubt answered the pleas the offline guys have had. The only thing that is strange is those offline modes that have been added do not utilize your DD cards. Moments has preset players to use, showdown is a BR draft style. So the only mode offline specific for your DD cards is Conquest, other than straight up vs CPU. I do think trying to arrange an online league and kick out users maybe the best thing for Offline guys to do to have something vs CPU that utilizes your acquired cards.

As someone looking for better things to do with my DD collection without having to play H2H, was there anything new in this stream?
Showdown is entirely offline and made to be a BR type experience for offline players
Showdown does not use your DD cards, which is what offline players want, a way to use your collection offline. Offline players really have no reason to collect cards at all.

Yes there are things to do, but not with your DD collection. This means there is no reason for any offline player to collect cards other than Conquest.

Which has 3 inning games, sort of devalues SP, although 3 batter minimum does change that. Not to mention always road team.

This is an understated weakness of offline DD. DD's main thrust is team customization and Conquest gives zero use for home uniforms or stadium cards.

All I'm saying is, There's no good reason a universal +3 to all stats should be locked to online play. If you want to PUSH players towards online, then make the online rewards easier and less time consuming. But an offline option should be present. Even something as simple has having to grind the FULL season stats offline instead of the half season would be fine

I’m still wondering why it said “Stage 1” above the prestige diamond stat missions.
It seems like they’ll be adding more ways to get them, but I don’t know why they would need to wait to release something like that.

If you're playing offline, you don't really need the evolution version of a card. You do after all get to select the difficulty you want to play most of the time.
That's the point most are trying to make. The way DD is set up, your cards essentially don't matter offline. Virtually all the incentives are for H2H play which is probably the weakest portion of the game, at least from a gameplay standpoint.
Folks want a reason to collect cards outside of using them H2H.
