Ive seen it 3 times in my life and it happens 3 times a game. Its ridiculous and says something negative about ball flight and AI defender logic.

It makes the game seem canned.

I hope its something that is fixed in future versions of the franchise.

    Thank you for your time.

Honestly outfield play is just a joke overall in this game and has been for years.

Making a diving catch on a fly ball is way too hard. Outfielders in the bigs make diving catches all the time it's way easier irl to dive for a fly ball than a ground ball. I've done both many times in my SS/CF career and there's absolutely no question the fly ball dive is way easier. However in this game you can make diving stops on grounders with absolute ease but good frigging luck getting your angle and timing right for a diving catch in the outfield. There are countless older baseball titles that have much better outfield diving systems.

Throwing from the outfield is a complete joke also. Big league right fielders have CANNONS and throw people out at 3rd and home often. So much so that many teams won't run on players like Jason Heyward. If you've ever gone for a gold glove outfielder in franchise mode you can see that the AI simulations get plenty of assists for outfielders but your user team is lucky to get 4 all season.

Bottom line in the majors the outfield is not some expansive abyss where any ball hit over the infield is unplayable, settles for easy triples, and move runners multiple bases without a challenge. Outfielders can play defense but this game prevents it.

I hate the times where my fielders won't even try to catch a ball that is hit just into the stands/dugout. AI players are able to reach it, but mine can't??

I mean, AI does stand for Actual Insanity, so they SHOULD be able to make those plays. 🙂
