I know I can't be the only one, but why do I keep reading "content is great this year"? What content? A fourth version card of the same player for purchase with stubs (which they hope people pay actual money for)? What's the new content? They've deleted numerous things over the years from mode that were already there and made a lot of modes unenjoyable to try to get everyone to DD to spend more money. And adding new cards isn't content - it's a carrot to try to get people to buy a new version. New content is expanding the modes you have, not removing features that were already there to try and force people to play the grindfest or pay cash for cards. Cards are good, content has been terrible for a few years now to me.

You obviously never played ‘18. ‘19 and ‘20 have absolutely [censored] all over the content from ‘16, ‘17 and ‘18 in terms of team versatility by adding a multitude of useable cards, staying away from the pay to win model that most UT modes are based on and keeping players engaged with regular new content.
There are many problems with the game, but content is not of them. The amount of free cards you can earn simply by playing is staggering and I’m of the opinion that content is fine.

Content, is the ONLY thing SDS gets right. This game is a bright, shiny, polished terd.

I have actually played all those game, every one. Cards are great as I said in my op, but cards aren't content to me. Why do we not have create a stadium for franchise? Relocation where you don't use another teams stadium and have they're logo everywhere? What happened to setting concession, merchandise prices? That's content - your expanding a mode you already have. But they consistently neglect what they have for the sake of DD, I don't need 4 different Smoltz cards. By this logic Madden has great content, expand what you have not neglect and delete what was already there for the sake of the almighty stub purchases.

It seems like those things you mentioned are features tied to a certain game mode, not content...

I’m a DD player personally, so that doesn’t affect me. I know franchise has needed reworking for many years and has been consistently neglected, but as you say, DD has micro transactions, which have been removed from RTTS and Franchise modes. I have no idea why they haven’t incorporated some of the ideas we saw as far back as MVP Baseball in 2004, such as ticket pricing, concessions and merchandise. I’d like to see create a stadium in DD, with certain limits in place to prevent them getting too ridiculous. It would be nice to have a vault for stadiums too, as we do with logos and rosters, so we could download and use other players creations.

In my opinion, that’s not content though. I tend to think of content as being additional DLC that’s added post launch to keep the game fresh and drive stub sales, just as you said. Things like overhauling franchise and adding a create a stadium mode are new features to be added year to year pre-launch.
