Kershaw

I was waiting for a top tier player to use him and finally saw a video. Pitching rebel used him and as i thought his lack of speed hurts him.

What ranking is Rebel at this season? If it's high up, I'm not sure that's a good sample to take notes from. (Though I do agree, it's all about fastball speed for the most part in HoF and above and Kershaw might not play as well there) I don't play as high as Rebel, so if another top tier player hit Kershaw well, I don't know how much that really applies to the general game population

I know you can’t take facing him in Showdown at face value but it seemed to me that his card wouldn’t nearly be as good as it was last year. I don’t even think I’ll give him a try

last years kershaw is this years prestige but that extra mph or two does look to make a difference

The best pitchers outside of kluber throw hard. If kershaw threw 98 he would be like Paxton.

Yeah he got knocked around for me in his first start I wasn't blown away by his stuff. Lack of cutter and slower speeds makes him harder to tunnel with.

I consider myself a good pitcher but it may have been user error.

I don't think he unseats anyone of my rotation of Maddux, Feller, Marichal, Seaver, or Orel.

Tunneling doesn’t have to do with pitch speeds, tunneling has to do with release point. Where one pitch will end up in a totally different part of the strikezone than another completely different pitch causing the illusion that the second pitch is similar to the first pitch for a split second. Yes, I do agree that the off speed stuff would be even deadlier if the speed difference is big especially if you tunnel the off speed stuff if that pitcher is capable of doing that. That’s why Kluber is such a pain to hit.

Prestige Marichal is 4-0 with 16 IP so I'd say rage inducing. I almost never throw the fastball and just junkball people to death. Throw the slider everywhere and treat the screwball like a sinker, in to righties. His change is probably my favorite pitch in the game NOBODY waits back on it. Then when you finally do toss fastballs they're late on 96.

Prestige marichal has 99 ctrl on the slider, fb, and CB, 98 on the screwball and 93 on the change with 27 mph difference in the FB and change. Also 125 BIG STAM

Of course kersh isn’t as good this year, hr/9 has no effect like it did last year which was a huge reason kershaw was so hard to hit. All these streamers were saying kershaw was the pick out of the 8th inning choice pack when they clearly forgot a big reason why kershaw was so good last year smh

I’m a die-hard Dodgers fan and I thought Kershaw was the automatic choice, but I’m kinda leaning towards Cobb after seeing people pitch with Kershaw.

Cobb is dope. No way he doesn't leave you're team. He may end up on the bench but he'll be on the team for sure.

I'm probably going to pick up Pudge when he get's cheaper, I'm running Biggio now to prestige him but otherwise I've run Torre and been happy with him.

Anyone give Pudge a test drive yet? Thoughts?

Can confirm, Kershaw is no where close to the one last year. On HOF have tried different sequence strategies and dude gets eaten alive by anyone with even decent PCI placement. Too much time for hitters to get it right.

Yep I was going to pick him as my boss pick. I didn't hit well with Pudge last year So it looks like cobb will be my guy when I get there. Whenever i get trout not sure what I will do with having Cobb, Mantle Trout and Walker needing spots.

Picking Cobb means I can wait a little longer to get Trout done...this will inevitably make the Trout collections cheaper. As a Rockies fan, Walker will never leave m OF. I'll be finishing Mantle on Friday as the final 2 LS cad I need will be at their cheapest on the last day of the pack sale. That leaves one OF spot for Cobb with FOTF Gwynn as the odd man out until Trout is finished.

As crazy as it sounds Trout may not make it on my team. I have Walker's prestige done so for now I have him on the bench, but he and mantle are my best hitters. I do need more time with Trout as his at bats have been limited however.

If I do go Walker over Trout Trout doesn't really work as a bench bat. He's a righty for righties, has great speed but not good stealing, and can only play in the outfield so he's not versatile.

Right now I'm absolutely murdering it with Cobb ,I just get along with his swing, for the longest time I used his lower rated card. He is probably ideal for coming off the bench but he's just so good for me.

Long story short, I wouldn't stress over the Trout collection, at this point, depending on what you have to drop to get him he may not be worth it.
