Is Honus a lot better than Banks?
-
Personally, I bat near .400 with Honus through 400 Abs. I love his card, he doesn't hit for power a lot for me but he is always on base.

I do pretty well with Honus but he does have that flyout power which is annoying, especially knowing that a guy like Banks would've hit it out on the same input.
It's so bad, it's like you center the ball and it's a mid-deep flyout but then he has those moments where he makes slight contact and the ball goes to mars

It's weird that most people haven't had success with Honus in this thread. He has been my best shortstop.
.344/.389/.490. Of course, the slugging isn't that impressive, but diamond defense and he has stolen 129 bases in 155 attempts good for an 83% success rate.
For comparision, Banks hit .295/.392/.437, that is in only about 200 at-bats for him, Honus has a lot more.
-
Have both. Honus is by far superior for me. His speed, defense and bat are all game changing. I've toyed with Lindor at SS and using Honus on the bench as a late game sub because he can play literally anywhere aside from catcher and has blazing speed, but I always go back to using him as my starting SS

I'm always interested in what other people consider great players
Personally for me I usually look for a .360 average and at least 1.150 ops, Lindor far exceeds that(.400 BA and 1.300 ops) but Honus falls short(.980 ops), I can't stand that card's hitting tendencies
Honus also makes a scary amount of errors, I was playing against the 11th rated player in the world at the time and Honus made 2 errors that cost me 5 runs in total, guess what I lost by

Honus has a .970 fielding% for me, I should throw Frank there

I'm pretty streaky with honus. sometimes he'll go 4-4 with a couple bombs then 0-20 next few games. he is the best defensive SS I'd say though. very noticeable. I couldn't get anything going with banks at all. I think hes hovering around the Mendoza line for me

I am not a good hitter, But for me Honus was great for me, I just flat out could not hit with him. I love guys with Speed and great defense. I played very little in RS this year. Mostly just played the events for online

Banks is a beast at the plate but for me anyhow I feel like he plays below his attributes on defense. Doesn’t seem to get to as many balls as he should and is slow on the bases. Honus is amazing on d and has great speed but his power is right in the middle where he doesn’t get the ichiro bloops but doesn’t have enough to consistently drive the ball out of the park. I will use both from time to time but primarily use Lindor now.
-
I love Honus because I love his speed and defense. I'm sure Ernie is a great card, but for what I want at Shortstop, it's not for me. And for what his card is at first base, I have a plethora of options likely better there. If he ever played third I feel like he'd be great there as well

i never really experimented with anyone other than Frank for this very reason - he was glitched this year no way that was common defence dude was diving and had tons of incredible moves over the past year for me

Honus is hitting.375 for me in AS. It’s a pretty small sample size though, and I am a pretty poor hitter.
I think the problem people are having with him is more of a problem with the game than the card.
-
Ernie Banks is a much better hitter, and he's more than adequate on defense. The only thing lacking is speed. Personally, I wouldn't grind for Honus if I had to do it over again.
