Hate to bring pessimism. I think it looks awesome and all, BUT.... 2nd year in a row Hoffman doesn’t have a 99. What holds him back?

He is a reliever granted Mo is a 99 but mo pitched in about 70 more games. His ERA is 2.21 to 2.87 Hoffmans. Not to mention post season stats. Granted Hoffman was plagued by playing for wearker teams but his era is 3.46 in 12 games. Mos is .70 in 96 games.

Maybe a combination of total stat grind like '18....one million base hits with right fielders and 500,000 saves with right handers.

Good god those immortals were a grind.

I didnt think they were as bad as the team epics. Those 200 IP with each team sucked.

I remember Hoffman always folded in the big moments. Playoffs, All Star game (when it decided Home Field in the Playoffs) the dude would always crumble when it counted most.
Good numbers on a bad team mean nothing.
He was very good at times great. But his save totals are more of a product of longevity than anything. Besides saves are over rated.

He was my best 3rd baseman last year. Couldn't take him out of the lineup.

Yeah. All that went through my head when I saw those 4 players lined up is the Sesame Street song "one of these things is not like the others".

After looking at it more closely, the Longoria card is actually a 95 OVR.

I hope that grind is not an ONLINE ONLY grind. It would alienate a LOT of players.

Other than that, looks like an amazing content drop.

Can't wait to see the POTM we get next week!

I think it will be like the sig series tournament last year, and then the beach ball choice is like ducks on the pond, hopefully with some post season cards!

    -Babe Ruth
Probably the best player of all time
    -Tom Seaver
Arguably a top 5 pitcher all time
    -Trevor Hoffman
The second greatest RP of all time
    -Evan Longoria
Uhh... maybe the nicest guy of all time?

Take out the "probably" and I agree with all of that.

There are arguments to be made both for and against Ruth. WAR is not a universal constant, and there's always room for debate, since what an individual values is very subjective. You know, how like some people don't hold much value for players pre 1920 or 1901 or 1947 etc

I dont want to rehash this argument, but with his pitching prowess, and his obliteration of many records, he is hands down the best. WAR only backs that up.
