Ok guys, tips for hitting with runners in scoring position?

I just scored one run on THIRTEEN hits over eight innings. I need help!

    Any secret teachings?

Be very patient. Opponents like to pitch around you with runners in scoring position. Force them to come into the zone. Don’t give them easy outs by chasing pitches outside of the zone. Make the opponent’s job as a pitcher as difficult as you can

That seems to be the key for sure. Are you ever looking for something early in the count, Mitch, or do you take a strike or two?

It really depends. If I see something over the heart of the plate i try to react to it and hit it, but I often take in those situations, unless I’m up by a lot, in which case I swing at everything like an idiot and usually blow the lead 😂

Ha! Yeah, I try to at least take one in that situation, but obviously I chase a lot. Lots of opponents will quick pitch/slide step in these situations as well.

Definitely agree with Mitch, need to be very patient and just wait for your pitch.

Don’t take any tips from me I’m only decent at the game because there isn’t ping based match making. I will turn into a noob if they implement that

Wait Mitch, do you mean to imply that the quality of your connection often benefits you? If so, is that because your connection is poor or great?

I can't tell you how many times I've played really mediocre players who have no issues timing 100mph while for me they come in at 200mph it seems. And then other games I play good players who seem to struggle with their timing while I'm out in front of everything.

My location (Europe) probably doesn't help either, but still. I've always known this latency inconsistency kinda held me back.

I’m being sarcastic because of what Demise is saying in the “haha” thread https://forums.theshownation.com/topic/1814/haha/107

Lmao gotcha. Now I feel dumb. Without opening the debate again or agreeing with him, I do think there is some truth to what he says about the whole latency thing. At least that's my experience. Either way, thanks for clarifying lol.

Do not swing at a low pitch until 2 strike, don't swing at a high or inside pitch until 1 strike, the only pitch you should be swinging at with an empty count is a pitch middle middle or middle away

Take the borderline pitches until 2 strikes as well

It sounds trite, but just don't change your approach.

I can't tell you how many RISP opportunities start with a swinging K and I say, "I KNEW I shouldn't have swung at that."

If I kept my approach, I wouldn't have; it's cool to keep reminding yourself of this lol.

It’s so simple when it comes down to it. I like the advice about not changing my approach. A lot of times, it takes a HUGE effort for me just to look at ONE pitch with RISP.
Sometimes I pick a spot to look for a pitch and just get fooled because I’m so eager. Plus on AS difficulty, you have to sit back a bit even on the fastballs.

Wow, some opponents really do not give in hardly ever with runners on. I fared better this last time, only 7 hits but 3 runs. SIX walks. First run came on a bases loaded walk.
