Ok...I created a list of the best players at each position. They are ranked in order from best to the worst. Use this if you need help for you team! Good work. Might be helpful to add where you can obtain each player since many cannot be purchased and you may not know where to find them.

I’m on the game now. I’ll probably do it later! Edit: I’ll do it sometime tomorrow!

Ridiculously accurate in my opinion. If I take Posey away it’s basically my team except Didi plays 3rd Biggio C to make room for Cano at 2nd.
Only guy I don’t like way down the list is Newhouser who is still my #1 choice

His control can be a problem sometimes. Overall he is good. I think the others ahead of him are better. Maybe I’ll move him up if more people like him better than my ranking

It's so subjective with him. "I get lit" is his favorite thing to say with his actions when he pitches for me.

How has Sutton pitched for everyone that has him? Was planning on buying Glavine, but his price shot way up, so it will be a bit. My top 4 will be Maddux, Smoltz, Orel, and Wood. I know Smoltz isn't a favorite here, but I usually do okay with him in RS.
Anyway looking for a number 5, have Kluber, Hal, Felix and others but Sutton is tempting. Not many stubs I know, but seeing him up that high made me wonder if I should pick him up.
I’ve done really well with Smoltz in this event. He’s got a low 2s ERA which is insane for me on all star. I use the splitter changeup combo pretty effectively to get a lot of bad timing ground balls or pop ups.

Great list. I like most of it besides having Edwin Diaz on your relievers. I also think Singer shouldn't be on the list. doesn't have good per/9s or pitches. For hitting the only one I disagree with is Stanton...the defense is terrible. Simmons could be on my list as well
-
My team as it lays out now is how I think each positions best 1/2 player.
C : Weiters. I value the switch hitting, 80+ power vs both sides. His pci doesnt matter on AS and hasn't bothered me yet on HOF. 99 arm 95 blocking makes him a wall behind the plate.
1B: Musial overtakes Thames as the best 1B in the game, especially once prestiged because he gains silver defense at first.
2B. Cano/Prestige Biggio. I prioritize defense here so I run prestige Biggio in his natural position for the diamond shield. If you haven't completed his prestige Cano is the better option.
SS. Rollins: switch hitter with a quick swing, elite baserunning speed, defense and arm, I'm working on his prestige right now to see the difference but he's already got easy power with a butter swing. I've finished prestige Yount as well and i think hes a great option. Would really suggest diamond defense here.
3B. 96 Prestige Chipper to me is still the best option, prestige gives him Silver defense, which plays. I have Prestige Sheffield on my bench too as a second option but his shield stays bronze, hes an elite pinch hitter as well.
Current outfield is Collection Trout-Prestige Mantle-Prestige Walker
Walker will eventually be replaced by Griffey probably, Musial for Frank and 96 Chipper for Sig Chipper but for the most part my teams done.
Rotation is
Maddux(more than halfway on his prestige)
Prestige Orel
Prestige Marishal
99 Feller (hes as disgusting as you think)
97 Wood(like 40-50 innings and ~40k off prestige)One thing I will note is prestige vs not prestiged changes the value on a lot of cards so it just depends if youre comitted to the specific grind.

I’ve pitched solid with McKay, but every pitch I throw feels like it’s going to get rocked. The 4 pitch mix feels flat considering 3 of the pitches are so generic.

@Quint75 said in Long list of best cards at each position:
I absolutely rake with Schmidt at 3rd. I know many don’t like his swing/stance but I luckily have zero problems with him. And the best defensive 3rd baseman by a mile.
I'm sticking with Schmidt to prestige solely on his defense. I'm hoping as I get more comfortable with him he'll come around for me but I haven't been able to get any consistency with him. Lots of grounders and when I get hits they're usually bouncers up the middle. I'm not really one that has trouble with one hitter or another, I can use anyone pretty much but he's giving me fits because A. he's my fave player ever and B. his defense is gross and if I could figure out how to hit with him 3rd base would be locked up forever.

Im 9 hits from his prestige and im losing my mind trying to finish it, I enjoyed using him in 18 I cant seem to get him down this year.

I see Spencer Howard on your top pitchers, haven’t seen many reviews of him. How is he?
-
I don't know why SDS gave him 3B as a primary, (he played 179 more games at 1B than he did at 3B in his career) so does FOTF Harmon make your list at 1B?

I mean, Ernie Banks played more games at 1B than he did at SS but obviously he’s better known for playing short. It’s kinda the same thing with Harmon

Brian Robert's not a top 10 2B? He's atleast top 5.

He has a good delivery and has good enough pitches to work with good per/9's. So it is an all around good card for pretty cheap
