Red Sox Rebuild (Sort Of) A Fictional Franchise Thread.
-
I have returned. Apparently people enjoyed following my previous franchise threads. (Though some didn't care.) So I've decided to give it one more go. I've been in an out of franchises this year. It was hard to get into it without real baseball. Now that we are back. I am giving it one more go. I love the Red Sox, but let's face it. They are in a rebuild. At least with pitching.
You guys deserve better than me so let's try this one more time. Franchise start with the latest ridinroster. Ill provide at least monthly updates as I sim the first 102. Ill edit the comments I've made here first before starting new comments. More to come as I rebuild my beloved sox.

Red Sox Spring Training Notes:
Rafael Devers signed to 1 year 2.00M contract. This move will avoid his first year of arbitration this winter.
Notes From Around The League:
Only minor injuries. No impact players on the IL to start the season.
The Rays, Royals & Rockies all showed signs in spring training that could be among the underdog teams to make a surprise run this season. Will any of these pan out?
Stay tuned. Red Sox baseball is officially back in 2020.

Baseball is back! Red Sox fans are still reeling from the recent Mookie Betts trade that has many questioning the new management. It doesn't help that the Red Sox need for pitching has been met by adding several journeymen and seeminy washed up arms instead of a serious pursuit. However it seems the new management will be given a few years to attempt to build "the next great Sox team." Leading many to believe the Sox will look really different on August 1st. As a result the analysts count the Sox out this season but the nation remains hopeful. Let's take a look at the Red Sox opening day roster.
Catcher: Christian Vazquez will call the games and attempt to replicate his 2019 offensive breakout. Kevin Plawecki will start the year as back up.
First Base: Former gold glover Mitch Moreland will hold down the position while mentoring the youngsters. He will split time with Michael Chavis.
Second Base: Jose Peraza will bridge the gap giving the newly acquired Jeter Downs a little more development time before he inevitably takes over next season. Tzu-Wei Lin will back up the left side of the infield.
Short Stop: Xander Bogaerts is a lock fresh off a new 7 year deal. With Betts now in Dodger blue and Pedroia out indefinitely. He also takes on the role of team leader. Can he handle the pressure?
Third Base: Rafael Devers will continue to develop his defense at the position. The question on every ones mind is can he replicate that great offense year he had in 2019 and establish himself as one of the leagues top hitters.
Right Field: Alex Verdugo will attempt to mend the hole left in Sox fans hearts. As eyes will be on him comparing him to Betts all season long. Though he has gone on record saying "he doesn't care about shoes to fill and is here to play his game.
Center Field: Jackie Bradley Jr. will start the year. However many believe his is ticketed to be the next one out of Boston. Kevin Pillar will get time in all 3 outfield positions especially against lefties.
Left Field: Andrew Benintendi will continue to build his legacy. However many think his days in Boston are also limited.
Designated Hitter: JD Martinez will continue to mash the ball in the middle if the line up. Many believe he may opt out of his contract for better world series odds at seasons end and with the new universal DH rule the sky is the limit. If the Sox do infact struggle I wouldn't be surprised to see them move Martinez before the deadline.
Starting Pitching: Chris Sale is coming off arguably his worst career season. He was plagued with injuries. It will be interesting to see if he stays healthy and returns to ace status. Eduardo Rodriguez on the other hand is coming off his best season. He will undoubtedly attempt to replicate and prove he can stay consistent. Nathan Eovaldi will attempt to justify that big contract he signed just a season ago. New comers Collin McHugh and Martin Perez will round out the rotation.
Long Relievers: Work horse Marcus Walden will return to the role. He will be joined by Ryan Webber.
Middle Relievers: Josh Taylor, Heather Hembree and new comer Robert Stock will start the year.
Set Up Men: Matt Barnes and former Twin Trevor Hildenberger will attempt to get the game to the closer.
Closer: Brandon Workman who took on the roll mid last season will see how he fairs in a full year.
Should be in interesting season. We will have more on these stories and others as they develop along with notes from
Around the league. Stay tuned for more Red Sox baseball. -
