Who else is sick and tired of the Bunt Cheese????
-
I just played a dude with a great lineup and...85 Mondesi leading off. I had to keep changing my defense. I forgot once and he cheesed for a hit...so pathetic they have to get hits that way
-
Bunting used to be a problem when fast guys could bunt for hits easily no matter what you did. At this point though, hunts are easily stopped so if you get "bunt cheesed" that's on you

Bunts are in a much better position than they have been for years now. You can actually drag bunt with fast guys now, and to me that’s a totally legit play. If I need to I’ll just shift my infield to guard against it and make them get a legitimate hit. If the bunt misses its location in any way it’s an out, and if the guy has below ~85 speed it’s likely an out.

Just curious... from this thread, it seems like any bunt at all is cheese... Is it actually considered by players here bad form to bunt, but the goon-fest, flex-off, home run circle jerks at Shippett are cool?

I typically don’t think of bunting as cheese unless a guy has a full lineup of Kenny Lofton/Juan Pierre types and bunts for hits more than once or twice a game. Its perfectly fine to try to bunt for a hit as long as its not multiple times in a game. At that point its cheese

Haha...well said! Was actually wondering this myself. Is any bunt at all considered "bunt cheese"? I mean bunts are part of baseball. If someone wants to have some speed in their lineup and try to bunt for a base hit from time to time I don't really see anything wrong with that. I get it if they're exploiting some type of flaw in the game, and all they do is bunt and no matter what you do it can't be stopped due to a flaw in the game. If someone is able to sneak a bunt in for a base hit every now and again though i would call that baseball more than I would bunt cheese.

IMO bunting with a speed guy with little to no pop in a close game is fine and get baseball. You can adjust your defense for that.
I’ve had guys bunt with Gallo and guys like that. That’s lame as hell. Swing away

If you get beat by "bunt cheese"... Which is preventable. Its on you. Can we stop letting these threads calling everything cheese get so big? Once again probably the same people crying about stuff they are to lazy to go adjust.

Is it wrong to bunt against a shift? I was down in a game the other day and bunted to 3B with Belli for a hit... Needed some runners on base and that is a huge opening if I get the bunt over that way. I think I hit a bomb with Cutch after to tie it up or get closer to tying, because I remember being happy/justified about the bunt afterwards.

It’s not cheese either. If somebody runs the shift against you and you lay a bunt down, that’s on them. Again, it’s done in real life.
