I opened 2750 packs today, apparently.
-
That's probably a personal record by about 2500.
-
You get anything good? I hope you did.
-
Off the top of my head: 2 Gerritt Coles, Verlander, Scherzer, Hamels, Sixto, Arenado, Trout, Gagne, etc.
Probably leaving some out. Obviously, I got like 50 (wild guess) of the under 90 LS diamonds.
-
Did you come out ahead? I can't even do the math.
-
I have a couple hundred thousand stubs more than when I started, but I don't know how much of that is from the packs and how much is from messing around in the market/playing the game, etc.
Which... even if that profit is all from packs, that's basically saying that if I didn't get Trout, I would have been only break-even despite the rest of that massive haul.

You just messing around because you have mote stubs than you know what to do with? Losing interest in the game?
-
Yes to the first part. Not really losing interest in the game, overall though.
I had a hunch it would be a more fun way to get all those silvers and bronzes I was gonna buy to speed through some of the team affinities.
Overall, I was willing to go broke while unlocking some TA sets as a worst case scenario, but that didn't happen.
-
Seems like a good haul, hard to follow the results, but if you're happy with it that's a win.
-
Did you have to spend any real money $ to obtain all the stubs needed for these packs, or were you able to earn them within the game?
-
You had 2 million stubs just lying around?

My stubs come from playing the game and, less often, obsessively flipping massive volumes of silver cards and/or gold equipment.
If my math is right, 2750 packs would cost like $1400 bucks with the current discount. I can think of a lot better ways to blow that kind of cash.

No. I had 600k or so lying around when I started. If 2750 packs shakes out to 2,000,000 stubs, I assume the other 1.4 million came from continuously selling whatever I pull.

What was the strategy? Did you start by just buying all the 50 bundles you could? Sell and buy again? One at a time?
-
It fluctuated. This wasn't something I planned out. In general, I typically buy no more than 2 bundles at a time. Sometimes the amount is based on whatever I just pulled. Early on, I pulled Cole twice, and so I probably turned around and put 100k back down on more packs.
However, at one point about 24 hours ago, I literally just decided to spend the 400k I had liquid at the time and buy as many bundles as I could. This didn't turn out to be a fun time.
The one place there's probably strategy is with the sales. I do sell as I go. I sell all the diamonds and golds immediately (with the exception of diamond equipment which I'm just hoarding right now because of the prices recently cratering).
I alternate between using the silvers/high bronzes for TA and selling them to keep some profit going. I usually sell the silvers if I feel I'm on a bad run.
About every 400 packs or so, I clean up the "unlockables", stadiums, etc. I like to stay liquid as much as possible.
Edit: In case this isn't clear, I did not go into this thinking it would be profitable. I went into it willing to lose a ton of stubs because I generally felt there wasn't much to spend them on right now and that I can get them back pretty quickly if absolutely necessary.

Above post is to you. I accidentally didn't "quote" you.

I kept going after posting this, and I'm up to AROUND 3900 packs right now since I started, give or take a few hundred.
Below is a screen shot of my pack history showing that page 156 is where I got started. Each page GENERALLY has 25 packs on it. Yet, for some reason when you open a bundle that shows as a pack opening and throws off my easy way of counting. So I guess the equation would be 3900 minus however many bundles I've bought is how many packs I've opened.
-
Lol I love everything about this. You're a mad man
-
I have over 1 million stubs right now with collections done. Do you advise spending all of them on bundles??? Lol
-
Yeahh. Crack the packs.

What's funny is that I'm at 1.3million right now and about half of that is BECAUSE of bundles. Which is completely ridiculous. I wish I could get this lucky in a situation that actually matters.
And while I know you're being facetious, it's the fact that you've done all the collections that makes the answer a big fat no. I could see someone using packs to try and finish collections because of this very rare window where packs are half-priced AND prices are inflated on some of the most common cards in packs. Packs are always risky but the risk is mitigated to an unprecedented level right now.
