Let me evaluate what I mean by this, not that he needs a knuckleball, but that his cutter needs to be equivalent to how hard it is to hit a knuckleballer in this game. If Mo is going to be a one or two pitch guy, his one pitch needs to be as hard to hit as Dickey's knuckler was in the past. He almost needs his own new cutter that is really hard to hit.

Couldn't agree more. He can't have a standard Cutter. It would never equate to how un-hittable a pitch he threw.

I agree with this or they realize that back in the day he could throw more than one or two pitches.

At one time he was a Starter and as a starter he threw a FB, Slider, Change up. So he had the ability to throw those.

I think they have to at least give him a FB, SLider, and Cutter. (the slider is just a greater breaking cutter lol)

He should have a perfect 99 movement/control cutter, with a similarly great 4-sm fastball. He'll also have a slider and change, but these should be average. He'll also have extremely high per-9's. Sounds pretty nasty to me.

He should have 99 control and a 97mph cutter with movement we have never seen before. It should put Jansens cutter almost to shame. And that realistic

Cutter, Sinker, 2Seam, Change would work just fine. I know he was primarily a cutter pitcher but he threw each of those pitches at one point in his career. I saw a slider as well, but many believe that slider turned into his cutter.

what about 2 cutters of different speeds. have one around 97 then another at 90. I think that would mess me up quite a bit. plus add a change up and sinker

    Jesus. That would be end-game.

I was reading something the other day about how that was the trick to his cutter. Different grips and different speeds. He was the master of the fastball.

I think people forget how devastating his two-seamer was, as well.

He regularly got players to sit cutter and take a third strike on that.

When he was coming up through the farm system he was a starter and capable of throwing a Change up and slider, he just didn't need them haha.

I think they could get away with him having a cutter, 2 seam, slider, and change up.

Cutter could be like 97 and the slider could be around 90, because he did throw two different cutters!

90-93 on that slider at least. And the 2 seam better be so nasty or they gotta add a sinker too.

Agreed, just because his pitches moved so much and were so devastating, in order to make him a very usable card. They could also get away with Cutter, 2S, Sinker, Slider, Change up. I doubt they give him a five pitch arsenal....but you never know he is the best closer to ever play the game of Baseball so jack that card up like they did with a lot of the SS this year.

100%. It'd be a sin to not give him a 5 pitch repertoire IMO and then kenley Jansen gets 5..
