Everyone seemed to dislike Sandberg. I used him in some showdowns, and he performed well. Now, hes claimed the leadoff spot for me.
-
Alek Thomas - dbacks TAFS he takes - plays an amazing center, only downfall is he has an incredibly weak arm

The 85 POTM Mondesi rips bombs all over the place. He’s long been out of my lineup, but I thought he’d suck at first look.
He’s my lead off guy. I’ve had amazing luck with him this year. I won’t get rid of him

For me, this description fits the 4th Inning Jacoby Ellsbury to a T. When the bosses were first shown, I laughed at the thought of someone taking him over Felix or Torre. Now? I can't take him out of my lineup (which puts one of Trout or Mantle on the bench because I've got Griffey Jr. in CF). The same can be said for that POTM Didi Gregorius.
Is there anyone that has surprised you to the point where you just can't take them out of your lineup?
Agreed. J. Ellsbury is an absolute beast.
For me, in just 14 games, he has .326 BA, 9 HR, 16 RBI, that's averaging a HR every 4.778 AB...incredible.

Prospect Gavin Lux I’m still batting over .500 with him even after using him so much in events. Card is amazing.
-
For me it’s been the players league 85 Gavin lux, idk why but I’m batting 340 with him and hitting tons of fingers, and I don’t plan on taking him off 2nd anytime soon
-
Barry Larkin has been solid for me. And the (91) Cobb for a long time hit way above his rating.

Tommy La Stella... No joke. He's been crushing the ball for me
In earlier events and in BR, Tommy freaking La Stella has been a great card for me.
-
Dylan Carlson. Used him for over 500 AB online and he still is hitting over .320

No one has him, he's my best hitter (better than Mick)

Katel Marte smashes righties for me on hof was a surprise. To this day a bench bat and sometimes gets the call to platoon with multiple players. If he had any more speed or defense he'd still be a regular batting over .390 through 400+ at bats. I packed him day 1 and hes been the most consistent player since ever for me. Swinging the bat that is.
-
Hanley Ramirez. I prestiged with him a couple weeks ago and all he does is make hard contact. Also really like the 90 Gavin Lux (he crushes high heat), Kenny Lofton & Miggy.
-
Andres Gimenez! Cannot get him out... hitting .405 3hr 12sb in 121ab only 16 strikeout
-
I'd like to add that Headliners Matt Wieters card to this thread. I picked him up by the recommendation of someone on here and he has been excellent in a small sample size for me. His swing is so smooth. I'm almost positive he's going to replace 99 Buster Posey for me.

Jazz for sure but Bryce Harper was hitting like crazy for me
I started using Harper because I needed Phillies innings, and he has stayed in my lineup because he has my highest slugging % of anyone vs CPU now. He has been hitting absolute bombs for me.

This card in my opinion is still an elite shortstop! Total glitch card!
-
Joe Torre SS is awful. Thought maybe a 98 rating would make him playable this year, I was wrong.
Nolan Jones surpised me in a good way.
-
Diamond's Bo Bichette and Brandon Crawford
-
Gold Matt Olsen or son. Put him in to do some 'Athletics innings.' He blew up! Even hit a no-doubter.
-
How are you guys "surprised" at dudes who are 95+ overalls being good in the game? You didn't expect to really hit that well with someone who has 117 contact vs lefties? Sheesh
