IMO I rather it be the same speed over and over, much easier to time up.
Yeah I get that, I feel like I'm a decent player but couldn't touch Pearson for 4 innings cause the kid was just spamming high 102 MPH fastballs which takes absolutely zero skill whatsoever. Just seems a broken and it gets old REALLY quick.
Just set the PCI high and sit fastball. If he throws you something soft you look dumb, but if he is truly spamming high fastball you should catch it and make him pay
Yeah that's what I did and ended up winning by 9, but only 4 of those came off Pearson on two walks, a Didi moonshot, and a Reggie solo. Absolutely smoked every other pitcher he brought in after that. Just got frustrated that inferior players can hang around in games they have no business in cause their pitcher hits 102 enough to make Chapman blush.

So you’re complaining because you only hit two home runs off of the starter, scoring four, in a game you won by nine? If someone is having success with a certain pitch (I wouldn’t call four given up success), then what’s the problem with that? Should you be able to hit everything the other player throws? When does all of this grousing end? When every well timed swing results in a home run and “superior” players with way too much time on their hands get to put up thirty runs every game?

I played a guy using Kopech in the rain last night. I'm already not a great hitter, so trying to pick up the 102 heater in the rain wasn't fun.

I guess if they fix it Hicks will start hitting 104 and 105 on occasion. Does that sound better?
-
I personally prefer they leave it as is.
But what if there was a limit of outlier pitches you can throw ? Say 15 and you can launch it at any time during the start? -
Honestly no one really uses those guys anymore as they get rocked past All-Star difficulty. But in the case that they’re spamming fastballs the whole game... that’s actually a good thing. Should be able to time it up after this first couple of innings

Not saying I should be able to hit everything the other player throws, it just seems unbalanced the way it is right now when people can get away with throwing fastball after fastball because it's coming so fast you can barely see it. The only reason I was able to hit him was cause I was anticipating and basically swinging when the ball came out of his hand. I don't mind high fastballs in the slightest, they're a great way to throw off timing and beat hitters. My problem lies in that some abuse the system and get away with it without having to work for anything. Also, I just find it incredibly unrealistic for a guy to throw 102 every pitch for even 3 innings in a row, nevermind 7+

They should just be more selective about giving it to starters. Kopech averaged 95 mph and some change in his only MLB reps in 2018, and Pearson is reported to "touch 99 and even 100" not sit there and touch 102. Even Cole, Syndergaard, and DeGrom average "only" 97 mph and that was tops for all starters last year.

As long as he isn't doing it an unrealistic amount I'm all for it. I'm not as worried about the relievers who can do that cause they (usually) aren't pitching for more than an inning or two, and it's their job to come in and throw as hard as possible. My problem is guys pumping 102 every pitch for 3/4 of the game, something I don't think an actual human body could even handle.
