All these ridiculous & absurd future stars cards incoming got me remembering my childhood baseball card collection. I’m in my 40’s so alot of you won’t get this but to those of you that do......Remember how every card company back then were marketing hard the top prospect Todd Van Poppel? TONS of incredible cards with the best card art dedicated to him & all us kids were buying them all up because we’d be able to retire off his rookie cards. Yeah.....Dude was a total bust just like most of these future stars cards will be as well. How about SDS put out more cards of players who have earned the right to be featured prominently in this game. That’s all, Rant over.

Now without googling it, who was the number one overall draft pick from that same draft? Hint.... He would help transform a franchise into a perennial contender?

Larry Wayne Jones, whoever that is...

Yep, possibly the best number one overall pick of all time.

    Griffey?

Chipper had higher career WAR than Griffey. Just because you hit more homers during a career doesn’t make you a better overall player. However it’s also subjective too. So you might say Griffey and I say Jones. Someone else might say Alex Rodriguez. I disqualify him because of PEDs. To each his own

    10 GGs to 0

Griffey was better all around imo, so I dont agree with the HR remark. But I do agree that it probably comes down to preference for some people.

This is an old guy thread. I remember the hype with Jefferies. I also remember Zeile. He sucked for awhile then turned it around.

I agree. I’m 43 and remember all these guys. Use to be big into card collecting as well. It’s unrealistic to release these future cards with 99 ratings. Kind of odd since Mike Trout will end his career and arguably will be one of the five greatest players of all-time. His card is only a 95 but JD Adell is a 99? Odd. However I do understand with no current MLB season The Show team has to be extra creative with their content. Definitely very appreciative of their work! I love sports and with very little on tv MLB The Show 20 has been a great distraction. Anyways I hope we can see the Bash Brother cards of Mark McGwire &Jose Canseco,Dwight Golden,Kirby Puckett but there might be licensing issues ?

Man I'd love a Dwight Gooden card, Dwight Golden would probably suck though lol. And where is Darryl Strawberry? That'd be sweet too
