I am at a loss.

I went 1-7 today in ranked seasons. I dropped from 774 to 603. I could not hit anything. The pitch speeds were so fast that I could not react. I tried watching the ball right out of the pitcher’s hand and the ball would not appear until half way there. It is such a frustrating and helpless feeling. Even the my swings that felt good where the timing was there and the pci seemed spot on would not end in solid contact. What am I doing to myself? I clearly not perform at a level where I can derive any sort of satisfaction from playing this game. I’ve bought a monitor specifically for this game, and while it helps, it can not compensate for the pitches warping their way to the plate. I need to get a life...I’ll see you guys tomorrow.

Good game btw. It’s not just you. Some games seems I can time them pretty decently, other games it seems there’s a half second delay. Definitely isn’t my connection. Could be I’m playing on a 60 inch, but after hearing your statement, maybe not having a monitor isn’t the only factor contributing to this. It also affects my analog pitching at times. I guess it is what it is.

Hey man, good game to you too. I just hate that feeling that i don’t have time to move my pci to the ball to make contact. If I’m sitting fastball, get a fastball, but I have to move the PCI half a millimeter, I shouldn’t be late. Anywho, I couldn’t hit anything during our game until like the eighth when the game opened up my timing window and gave me a couple pity homeruns. It’s such a weird feeling when you do nothing differently from all the other swings but you get different results.
-
Could be the momentum engine. I had a game against a WS player early today and he jumped out to an 8-0 lead. My guys couldn’t hit squat even though my PCI placement seemed decent. All of a sudden the 6th inning comes around and I score 5 runs really quick but it was too late. I ended up losing 8-5. Hitting is just too inconsistent. I know that’s been said over and over, but seems as SDS algorithms are out of wack and players are expected to play to the momentum or pray for a huge mistake by the opponent.

I’m probably hitting as badly as I always do every year. While good/okay has been annoying as f this year, there have always been excess line outs, excess pop ups or excess something every year. It’s not a new complaint, it’s been like this since ‘18. The difference this year, for me, is that I now give up far more runs than usual, but score roughly the same as I always have. As a result, Instead of winning 4-2 or 5-3, I now lose 15-5 or 13-4, because there’s no way to pitch effectively or defend against the barrage of home runs, most of which seem, to me, to be on early/squared up or good/okay swings.

This years game is so frustrating due to what you just mentioned. In 19 if I lost it was because I played a better player. This year I can’t really say that.

I played a couple ranked season game this morning and the difference was night and day. In the first game, I faced Blake Snell, Dustin May, Corey Kluber, and Jake McGee. I had like 6 runs and 12 hits. The pitch speeds were much more manageable and the ball could be tracked directly from the pitcher’s hand. Granted, I still lost on a walk off grand slam, but that’s to be expected. Frankly, I’m shocked when I don’t lose on a walk off grand slam. But the difference between my games this morning and the games last night had nothing to do with the game itself. It has to be the connection between opponents, unless of course, SDS arbitrarily jacks up pitch speeds on random accounts to make people hate themselves and buy packs. But we all know that’s ludicrous...
-
There is definitely something to do with connections between players, imo. What other explanation could there be?
-
The game is playing horrible today. I was gonna push for ws I’m at 834, but I was warming up in the event and I couldn’t touch the ball . If I did make contact it was good okay. So I will not push it and I’ll stay with my cs rating

I couldn't touch the ball yesterday and neither could my opponent... Then when i steal the 2B is covering the bag but over out in the SS area, throw goes there, then player teleports to the bag.... Ground balls scooped up no where near fielders... Just really weird stuff. Must be connection issues?

Desync. Causes a lot of issues, but they should simply be visual glitches that don’t affect outcomes. I say “should be”, because I have a feeling there are direct effects on outcomes and gameplay as a result, it’s just finding absolute proof that is the problem.

Memory is a tricky thing, but I don’t remember being quite as exasperated playing last year’s game as this one. I think the combination of increased pitch speeds, smaller timing windows, and unreliable contact and pitching outputs, are bringing these connection issues to the forefront. It would be nice if Improving connectivity between players is something that SDS is working on. Is it something they consider an issue?

It’s something they very studiously avoid ever mentioning in the slightest publicly. If you email support directly about connectivity issues they’ll give you some copy/paste response about resetting your router and so on. They’re well aware of it by now, or at least they should be, however they’re either unable or unwilling to do anything to improve performance in high ping H2H games.

These issues weren’t nearly as noticeable last year, at least in my opinion. If they reverted everything back hitting and pitching wise to last year, it would be more tolerable. I feel like they added some good features this year like the perfect perfect concept, and the fact that it’s more difficult to catch balls at the wall. But they’ve jacked up pitching. They’ve jacked up hitting. And instead of building on last year, they threw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak. Were these issues as prevalent for you last year?

Hey not to shamelessly plug but I made a timing video a bit ago that might help you. https://youtu.be/bukeV53_Zic

Hey man. Thanks. I watched it. I enjoyed the video and the first one as well. When there are latency issues, however, I haven’t found anything that really helps me. When the game runs smoothly, I can look for the slight elevation of the ball out of the pitcher’s hand on off speed pitches as you mentioned in your first video, and that’s great. But when desync (That’s what comebacklogic calls it so I’ll go with that) Issues occur my eyes and my brain simply cannot react fast enough to read anything. I just see a white blur and then swing. I played a few games last night where I tried to watch the ball out of the pitcher’s hand, and I literally couldn’t see the ball until it was half way to the plate. This morning I played a couple games on the same skill level and I tracked the ball just fine and hit much better. It bothers me that there is a variable in the playing of this game that neither I nor my opponent has any control over. And this variable, I would argue, has one of the greatest impacts on the outcome of the game-and that’s whether or not the game will play smoothly and pitches will have normal speeds or the game will suffer from those desync issues and the pitches will be like trying to hit vapor.

No, I’m with you, they’ve always existed to a degree, but this year they jump up, slap you around the face with a large wet tuna, kick you in the balls and then flip you the bird before sauntering away. THAT’S how in your face it is this year.

I have definitely had those days. I'm not 100% sold it is all my fault either. Usually after the second game, I switch to something else (BR, Showdown, etc)
