Hard truth for you all to accept about the state of the game...

Maybe this isn’t a issue with the actual game, maybe it’s a issue with the split second reactions between two playstations and multiple internet providers.. if I have Verizon and a PS4 and I’m playing someone with Comcast and on a PS4 pro.. the timing could be thrown off by milliseconds and mess up the true user input.
And with the amount of people online and screwing up latency/bandwidth issues through the lockdown maybe made it worst.
Offline plays great despite some good okays (which I’m fine with, if I got a hit every time I was good/okay I would be batting .600 or something and that’s not realistic, something you guys keep asking for but when you hit .250 you cry like a baby) The game Isn’t meant to change between online and offline.
I am not at all making excuses, I am just showing it’s not just an easy fix that y’all all think it is.
Go ahead and hang me now.. I’ll be waiting for the hateful responses . Especially during a time we are in, video games are just a escape from reality. You all have to realize that. It’s just a game.
Something I had to come to grips with because I was addicted to it and was beyond frustrated. Now I play just to use cards and don’t really care about outcomes, just something to do in my free time and have fun with time to time, as it’s meant to be in the first place.

Any game and especially those that depend on timing(The Show, NBA 2K) can be brutal to play when there are connection issues. I had a game of 2K the other night that played amazing. I was greening every shot and the shot meter felt smooth and not laggy. It was 2:30 in the morning so that could have been part of it. Not as much internet traffic.

Offline Franchise the gameplay is smooth as butter

I want the competition of playing against another human. I’m glad you get enjoyment beating up on the CPU.

On Legend with proper Sliders and pitch speeds maxed the CPU would wop my [censored] way more than some online kid holding a hot pocket.

Definitely feel you man. As frustrating as the game can be,with everything going on right now. I've just taken the time to do and finds things I find enjoyable. Ive started a youtube channel, im trying to teach myself the guitar, Hell because of the show and the market ive even started looking into trading stocks. Once you start keep yourself busy with other things the frustration of this game fades more and more. So to everyone I just say this take this time we have and use it wisely, do or get into some things you've never had the time to do before. This game doesn't have to be the end all be all. With that being sad everyone stay safe and be well.

Too bad they never made games with acceptable online performance since the early part of the 2010s
-
The game isn't consistent or efficient but if you leave balls over the plate MLB players will hit it good enough for a base hits 6/10
I don't want to bat 600. But if the ball is in the core of the PCI on a good swinging time the ball should most differently be a hit or some damage done I've been on base more on very late/jammed than good/good I just want to see consistency in batting/PCI and efficiency on players attribute it's not translating well

This game in RS is totally predicated on whether or not your connection to your opponent is good or not. I was in DA and lost in the first inning due to a disconnect despite a hard wired connection. Nothing better than losing 35 points lol
-
I can only imagine what will happen next year when it goes not only cross platform but cross generation.

While I agree with you mostly, I don't think that's exactly how syncing online works in this game. I'm no computer programmer, but it appears there is delay after the pitch input to transmit that data to the batter. Then there is a delay when the batters input is transmitted back to the pitcher. If you pay attention to where your game slows in a laggy match, depending on whether you are batting or not, you can see this.
I don't think lag directly affects the timing of input. Now it undoubtedly plays with the flow of the game, making it harder to stay in a rhythm, as well as funny things happening once the ball is in play, but not in the way you seem to be thinking

Online h2h is so bad. I was just up 1-0 going into the 9th with a no-hitter. You all know what happened... dude had 2 terrible contact hits. Then a single up the middle to Mike Trout who does a stupid lunging animation for no reason and misses the ball... this game is trash.

I was thinking this too. Maybe it's their servers because call of duty can have 100 players (150 I think in modern warfare) playing at the same time in a real world environment.
Not only that but there are many other blackout/ multiplayer games going on as well on their servers.
To be fair, I know COD has a bigger budget and fan base which probably means better reliable servers
