Yes. Dodgers fans, Red Sox fans, Astros fans...we can all agree on that.

You’re right. I was actually excited for the Marlins this year. I thought they had a chance to make a little jump from where they’ve been. So, apologies.

The worst part about a shortened season is that we will not be able to sell off Villar and Dickerson at the deadline for prospects.
I applauded the moves because I envisioned the team flipping them for prospects in the same manner we did Romo last year (We got Lewin Diaz back for a rent a player). The shortened season means the fish will be in the running longer, especially if they expand the playoff field.

That’s the trade off I guess. Maybe the marlins play out of their minds for 2 months and become America’s sweethearts. Only of course to be crushed by some juggernaut. But still...there’s always hope.

Been thinking not only baseball but all the sports that will try and play again in 2020, are they going to let mangers, coaches, & GMs opt out til theres a cure??
What about players with asthma or other health concerns, will they be able to say I'm not playing without punishment?
I want baseball, basketball and hockey back but I do feel uneasy about this.

Just read on Twitter that players like Prince Fielder and Bobby Bonilla would still get paid in full. So under the owners proposal, Prince fielder, who retired in 2016, would be the highest paid baseball player. That is another reason why I side with the players on this one. If I am Christian Yelich or Mile trout, there is now way in hell that I would be okay with making less money for actually playing than someone who hasn’t played in 4 years
Here is the link:link text
If the tigers, who have 2 of the top 5 worst contracts in baseball plus owing 6 million to Fielder plus being the worst team in the league won’t lose money with prorated salaries, there isn’t many teams who will

You do realize that is deferred money that was earned already?
The players (Prince & Bobby Bo) took less money in exchange for an interest baring payout later on. The deferred money provided the team financial flexability to sign other players, make payroll, or any of a laundry list of things. The team essesntially used a real life credit card to get Prince.
It makes them no better or worse than us using a credit card to buy something. The cost for Prince is a sunk cost, it is accounted for the same way rent or stadium maintence is counted.
Has nothing to do with the current situation.Prince played his 162. He deserves to be paid for his 162 even if it is 10 years later.
Deferred money is a financing mechanism that allows some teams to compete today leveraged against future returns. -
If the owners want a bailout they should ask for it from the government, like every other large company that doesn’t know wtf it’s doing does, and not its own employees.
But the owners know that if the public sees them asking for money from the government it will make them look even worse so they are asking the players to bail them out instead. When in reality most of these owners are BILLIONAIRES don’t even need it. It’s ridiculous
