What’s up everyone? First post here. Just wanted to pick your brains on something. I currently have $138K in stubs in the bank and not sure if I should continue to save up, or buy players that I have my eye on (Scherzer, Lofton), or buy Show packs (been watching a lot of pack opening videos and want in on the fun lol).

Let me know what you guys recommend!

Also, my pack opening luck has only netted me Diamond LS Aaron Judge this year and I’ve had the game since the first day of its prerelease 😕

    Players, always players.
The pack opening videos in most cases are only posted when the user pulled something good, so they can clickbait (or I guess it's not really clickbait if they did pull a diamond, but you know what I mean).

    Think about it this way.
You buy a player and if you don't like him, you can sell him back and get another.

You buy packs, if you don't pull anything good, your stubs are just gone.

    Appreciate the feedback!

Follow up for you - when buying players from the market, is it better to go after the big studs that are $80-100K+ or to chip away with $20K players?

My goal at the moment is not to do all the collections, but continue to just get the best team for RS. So I don’t necessarily need to save up for a Trout. I also already have Arenado collected.

If you aren’t trying to do collections, stay away from Scherzer. He isn’t very usable is RS, plenty of better players to spend those sweet stubs on!

Scherzer isn't hard to hit. Not worth the stubs unless you are a huge fan or are doing collections which it doesn't sound like you are.

Packs, always packs, if you ask the community. How does just buying the player you want entertain us? Buy a bunch of packs and post the video of your demise please.

The only packs worth opening are the ones you get for free. Just get who you want rather putting your money in a slot machine. I’d keep enough on the side to keep flipping too. You can never have enough..

Go team by team and, if possible, division by division.

Players - especially if you're going for Mantle - all of the 85-89 guys are cheap - so unless you're pulling a 50 buncle and pull on of the top players - you're gonna have an overall L- so many free packs in the game

lone exception is headliners pack - but you know you're gambling there

Packs are only useful if your trying to complete collections other than that stick to individual card sales.

Always buy the player. Also, buy a player and see how YOU play with them, if you play well with him then keep, if not sell it back on the market. Rinse and repeat until you find the squad you play best with.

I brought a few bundles because I wanted to complete the collection. I don’t believe I pulled any high value diamonds throughout that whole grind to complete it. But I pulled Gerrit Cole twice in a recent 2 week period, one from a Showdown reward and one from an Affinity pack.

Go after impact cards that will help your team first. Not just for RS, but events too. They are a great way to earn players and packs to bolster your team or stubs. Also look at collection rewards, you have arenado and completing the Rockies collection gets you a pretty good ottivino card for the bullpen, same with Oakland with Doolittle

I’ve only invested in 2 headliner packs and bought 5 each for Hamels and Miggy. Definitely hated myself after lol. Thinking what I could do with that extra $70K in stubs right now haha

For headliners, I have bought 3 and pulled 2 diamonds, Linder and SS Hamels. Pretty good luck there. Otherwise, bad pack luck. 100% buy the players. I only buy packs when I am feeling lucky. (It never works). 🙂

I've had good pack luck this year, but always go for the player. I don't know your team situation, but you could buy Miggy, who is a beast at the plate and this is coming from an awful hitter. Plus his glove at 3B isn't bad. You should have enough left for Lofton, though I assume the next event will be a LS event, so you could maybe use the stubs to build a team to get Lofton that way.

    Sorry for the rambling!

Chip away at cheaper teams first. Expensive guys will always be expensive regardless. Just keep in mind when a stub sale hits everyone’s price goes up drastically. So might as well work on getting the cheaper guys while they’re cheap. Then slowly save up for the big dogs

also every higher silver and golds go up when the new TA show up. Prices tend to drop around when the new innings come out.
