Knuckleballers = No skill.
Wouldn't no skill be the guy that can't hit a 70 MPH lob? Plenty of people crush knucklers.
But it's like the people that can't cry about it being unfair rather than admitting it's hard to judge and hit. Players have had great extensive careers with the pitch, All Star games, CY Young awards and HOF enshrinements because of 1 pitch.
Who other then R.A Dickey has won a Cy Young using the Knuckleball?
I dont think anyone else has.
Phil Neikro had 5x top 6 finishes including a 2nd, and 3rd.
Tim Wakefield finished 3rd
Hoyt Wilhelm had a top 5 MVP finish (4th)
Wilbur Wood had 3 top 5 finishes including 2nd, and 3rdSo there have definitely been very successful knuckleball pitching seasons.
O I'm not arguing that it can be a effective pitch and MLB pitchers have had success with it. Problem is with MLB the show people use it to be dicks and get others to quit, it's easy enough to figure out though and then can be very hittable. I just don't think we need more knuckleball pitchers.
I was just answering the question. But I also (maybe incorrectly) interpreted the question being posed as that knuckleball season being a fluke.
I loved watching Tim Wakefield pitch as a kid, you never knew what the ball was going to do even Jason Varitek didn't know where it was going to end up sometimes. If it works it can be a complete pain to deal with. Not to mention it's hard to throw one as well.
Who doesnt remember how badly Varitek handled that knuckler during the 04 ALCS? What did he end up with that one inning, 3 passed balls?
It was 3. The first one got Sheffield on base the second one allowed him second they walked Possada and then Wakefield threw one more wild pitch. Crazy inning.

Doug Mirabelli was his personal catcher that's why. Varitek rarely caught him but it just goes to show what a deadly pitch it is, that a great catcher like Varitek can't even catch the freaking thing lol

Players??? You mean the Niekro brothers, Wakefield, Dickey, Wright aaaaaaand who else? Off the top of my head, I can think of 1 Cy Young winner and 1 HOF out of thousands of players that have played MLB. You make it sound like all kinds of players do it all the time. Allow me to be more specific, the knuckle is a gimmick pitch in this game that allows for no skill or thought process in you’re pitch selection.

Obviously you haven't read the posts in this thread, or you would have seen other names you didnt mention. Also, there are at least 2 in the HOF, Phil Niekro and Hoyt Wilhelm.

Ah yes how could I forget Hoyt Wilhelm.

Was anything I said incorrect? Who were the great many other players who threw the gimmick pitch? Beside Charlie Hough and Candiotti. Who were the many knuckleballers that made the HOF?

Knuckleballers don't know where it's going in real life, neither should some cheeser using a knuckler in DD.
-
Nope

The amount of almost no hitters he threw was crazy...I miss Wakefield I know the batters he faced do not lol

I miss the days of mlb 18 when the bronze Nekro and silver wright were some of the best pitchers. Maybe a gold Tim Wakefield or silver Tom candiotti
Bruh I just want to "censored" you up now.

Nah we really don’t.

Maybe we could get pitching fixed so the other 99% of the pitchers can locate a fastball before we add knuckleballers to the game again?
-

Hes in the HOF. Kind of hard to downplay Hall of Famers.
