Online play has become a disaster
-
The reason you got the loss when you quit is because the game was frozen. The server cannot identify when there is a freezeoff or someone turns their game off or gets disconnected. My point is if someone gets disconnected when you're losing 7-2 in the 7th.. you're going to get the win. When the game freezes like that whoever quits first gets the loss because the servers view it as a disconnect which it technically is. Stop acting so hard headed with your opinion and take the wisdom of those who have been around. You've been playing online for 4 years? I've been playing online for about 20 when it was dial up like AOL. Not that it matters

I. Didn't. Quit.
I. Was. Winning.

I realized youre probably talking about 4 years online in the show. If you've never had a freezeoff you probably don't play too often in those four years though.

Wrong.

Here's how online play could be mostly fixed:
- Stop assigning wins and losses in the event of a server freeze.
- Fix lagging that is resulting in bad umpire calls and game-changing plays.
- Allow players a limited number of chances to leave an online game before a pitch is thrown to prevent mismatches.
- Do not allow starting pitchers to be used as relievers or, at the very least, severely limit their stamina.
- Disable the "hold R2" feature after the first inning a given pitcher is in the game.
- Make bunt defense better to prevent online abuse of bunting.
- Limit the number of pauses during a game, not just pause time.
- Do not allow friendly quit requests in the last 10 seconds of a player's pause time.
- Investigate reports of cheating and ban/strip wins from those who are caught doing so.
- Players who received losses as a result of proven cheating should also have those losses removed from their record.
-
They should either fix freeze-offs and prevent them occurring, or find a way to detect the freeze and award the winning team the game if more than 1/2 of the game has been played. So after the start of the 5th in RS and 3rd in BR ideally. Remember users can deliberately freeze the game in certain circumstances if losing and wait it out to get a win. This would prevent that.
-
Definitely need better synchronisation. This game is a shambles in large part due to connectivity issues.
-
No. Anyone could leave when faced with a tough opponent or pitcher they don’t like to face. Friendly quit is enough.
-
Yes. Stamina needs work.
-
No. I and other players use it to check pitch history and so on. Make it so it doesn’t interfere with the pitcher in any way, sure.
-
Definitely yes.
-
It’s whatever really.
-
Don’t accept them then.
-
& 10) Above my pay grade. Seems like that should already be a thing though.
-
Thanks for the helpful response. I agree with you on 1, 2, 4, 5 (as long as it doesn't interfere with pitcher, no problem), 6, 9 & 10. I don't think 7 is a "whatever" since it's been abused by cheaters. 8 is an issue because people run down the clock to 1 second and then trick people into thinking they're accepting a forfeit instead of a friendly quit. As for 3, the game frequently assigns mismatches so maybe the answer is less of a competition window at each level. That should be easily fixable.
-
I'm not trying to argue with you or be a douche but if you didnt truly know that quitting a freeze off gets you the loss or that you didnt know that it happens, why did you stay in the game for a full hour?
-
If your opponent is randomly letting the clock run down to 0 you should know what they are trying to do and have the patience to hit circle than hit square after.

No, I didn't "lose." I was winning handily. And you make it seem like I just turned the game off the moment it froze; I waited a FULL HOUR. Amazing that anyone would defend this garbage.
Haha he’s not defending anything. These so called freeze outs happen once and awhile. The game doesn’t take into account whose winning or losing. The game still thinks both players are connected despite the freeze. So which ever player decides to just say screw this and turn there game off or reset loses the game. Score has no merit. It’s really just a cheeky way for a person losing to snag a W because normally they have 0 life and will just leave there PS4 on that frozen screen for hours if not days until the other gives up. It sucks but that’s what happen. Been in ur shoes before.
-
To be honest you should feel lucky this is ur first time in years experiencing this. Haha

Well the other guy waited a FULL HOUR AND ONE SECOND

Since you don't understand what people mean by latency issue, I'm gonna make it very basic for you.
You, the server or your opponent had a bad internet connection causing your screen and his screen to show completely different things.
The truth is, your guy was never actually safe but it took longer than usual for the input to be uploaded (Due to slow internet) and then subsequently downloaded to your ps4. If you've ever played a FPS online you will have experienced the "But i was behind a wall!!!" Same thing here, your character was still in the open to him. -
Rain is a part of the game. So is snow in some parts early in the season. There’s not a lot anyone can do to control it or prevent it from happening....
Internet is part of playing online. So are internet interruptions. There’s not a lot anyone can do to control it or prevent it from happening... (plus a ton of ISPs are handing out free internet to people during the whole COVID ordeal on top of many people being more active online; I’m sure it’s a possibility that could hinder some online performance in certain areas).
If I get in a freeze off, I take the opportunity to do something else: play with my dogs, checking my honey-do list, laundry, watch a movie, something else besides closing out the game, unless I honestly don’t care about taking a loss.
My biggest piece of advice for you would be to lighten up on the subject. If it’s that big of an issue for you, take it to social media. Call them out there instead of beating your dead horse on here. There’s a much smaller community on TSN to reach out to compared to twitter or something.

Your first point is probably a latency issue
The other, well you quit out in a freezeoff
all of this

Funny how you guys blame everyone except the actual cheaters.

From the server’s point of view, you disconnected from the game, therefore it awarded the win to the other player. Had he left the match first, you would have been awarded the win.
Obviously your opponent was aware of this and left his ps4 on. Sometimes this goes on for hours and days. I’m not saying this is good, or fair, but just keep this in mind next time you’re in a freeze off.
If you value your time, you can leave and take the loss. If you care more about winning, go ahead and outlast your opponent.
A big part of why playing online is so challenging is the people. Unfortunately, no matter what changes are made to the game, there will always be those who seek to exploit.

You skipped my question earlier and who exactly is cheating? Are you saying the other guy made the freeze off happen? Everything you've talked about in this thread has been answered and you've been told why. As far as defending cheaters, no one is doing that at all,at least not from what I have read

Haha this kid just isn’t getting it. End of the day needs to realize it’s one freaking game that he lost. It sucks we get it. What do you want us all to do write a petition and get it signed by the entire community and sent to SDS to get you your win for a connection issue. We all understand and have been in ur shoes dude. No one cheated u experienced poor server issues. You didn’t want to wait which I wouldn’t blame you but the way the game works that gives u a loss. End of conversation end of thread. It sucks and u lost when u should have won. But guess what it’s a video game and ur still breathing. It’s ok.
-
It’s not just one game.

Haha it still a video game at the end of the day. Do you get paid to play it? If the answer is no then it’s ok. It sucks I know but still it’s a VIDEO GAME. We all feel the same as u but there’s nothing else to do. Maybe one day they will solve the problem but as of now u either sit there and wait it out and play Zero games until the other person quits or u say [censored] that sucks and move on. Trust me I’m as competitive as the next person but I remind myself daily that I’m not getting paid to play and it will be ok.
