What helped me was going into practice on legend and putting the fastball pitch speed up. Spend a day or two. I know it’s hard to stay in practice since there’s no rewards but it will play off in the long run. I now also do bp for 10-15 mins before I hop into ranked seasons. It will still take a while but the speed will slow down and pci will look huge. Invest a week into hitting. Nothing else.

For my life I cannot hit online or even against the CPU. I have not completed one showdown, I have never score more than 5 in a game. I’ve watch every Hitting tips video on YouTube, Go into practice mode, change hitting view. I’ve never had this problem before MLB 20 so if SDS doesn’t fix the hitting issue I’m never playing again.
Monitor or Tv?

Oh you’re MAD mad ... lol. If you’re on the brink of breaking your ps4, just take a break man. Playing while angry will more than likely just have you playing even worse. Sometimes best thing you can do is taking a step back & regrouping.
-
I almost broke a controller yesterday. Haven't had that urge in years.

100% on not caring any more. You cannot play this game to compete. You simply cannot. What I’ve found to be the best solution is to not care as well, not about anything.
I had most of the cards for collections, Trout, Arenado and so on. Then it hit me. Why would I think for one second that improving my team to all 99s would help in the slightest little bit? That’s crazy. It’s not the cards, the game is fundamentally broken and pretty laughable. Mickey Mantle will not change that in any way, shape or form. Following on from that thought process, I realised it applied to everything in the game. Now, I laugh. I laugh a lot and post trolly jokey comments on TSN instead of angry frustrated comments. I don’t care about my team composition, I don’t care about my garbage batting average, I don’t care about my ERA, I don’t congratulate myself for wins, nor berate myself for losses. I often have tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks as I splutter into my coffee over a farcical animation or ridiculous hit feedback result. It’s really all you can do at this point, it is. I was streaming for a buddy last night and we were just literally like WTF is this game even? No point getting angry, or asking for patches, it is what it is.
On the subject of asking for patches, I’m done with that too. I used to check here every day to see if there was a patch coming out that would resolve all the issues. After two or three updates, I realised they were doing practically nothing to improve the state of the game, so even if there was a patch released, it wasn’t worth worrying about anyway. So I gave up caring about patches too!
Well said. By chance did you have the game 3 days early from pre-ordering? That was the most fun I have had with a release of MLBTS since 16. Just wondering your thoughts if you did.

It is impossible to hit in this game... just a fact. I cannot complete the showdows with exception of the first 2 innings. I had frustrated the hell out of me to the point of not caring about showdowns and tam affinity. Sucks that I cannot participate in these features of the game.
Go ahead, roll with how easy it is for you and I need to practice and get better. NOBODY has endless time to get to this level to complete these showdowns. So tired of the people that ignore all the players that ARE having a tough go at it and just bragging how good they are and you suck. It’s pointless. -
I'm back to playing R6 Siege, God of War, RDR 2. So many great games out there that are actually worth your time.
If it's starting to damage your mental health or mood, for the love of God, stop playing it.

I did early access both this year and last year, when we had similar complaints that “game played great at launch and then patch x.xx broke it”. My take, for what it’s worth, is that while there is some tuning by SDS in the early stages of the game, as flaws or oversights become apparent during mass play, there’s also the fact that you’re usually playing on all star or veteran settings, which make the game an entirely different proposition (See the MLB Players League for an example) and don’t have a significant sample size of games played to make that kind of judgement at that stage.
Once you spend more time with the game and move up to HoF or legend, it all begins to unravel, the new game shine wears thin and you begin to pick up on the ugliness. So yes, there’s probably some issues with SDS being too quick to adjust the game early on, but I think the placebo aspect of playing a new game and easier settings is a greater factor, although you won’t find many people who like that theory over the “SDS broke hitting with a patch” approach. -
If you have an anger issue to this level it's time to seek professional help. Sucking at a videogame shouldn't make someone upset. I hope you get the help you need
-
I had a blast those first few days playing Conquest on All Star but I get your take on the placebo effect. I think SDS pulled the plug too early though on hitting and should have gathered more data. I personally don’t think hitting is so broken as much as the timing window is.
-
I'm fed up with the illogical hitting....for example a pitch on the outside of a lefty that gets hits barely....instead of dribbling to short or third like it should....lines between first and second.....I'm a lefty and I played ball and IRL never happened as much as it does in the game. The pathetic bunting game or lack of it, I mean it has to be a slow dribbler on the line, and the constant outs on slow hits between pitcher and 1st that results in outs 99% of the time. Just very poor hitting comparison to real life

Stop changing things would be my first tip. Pick one camera and stick with it. Second tip is to find what works for you at the plate when batting. These guys that post these tips are generally top players that get to most balls, regardless of where they start their pci. Thirdly, I would suggest a patient approach, don't swing for the fences on every ball, look for the pitches that catch too much of the plate.
Lastly, and this something I noticed in my own play the other day, keep your hands relaxed. I found that I was gripping too tightly and when I went to hit the button, I was jerking the controller, therefore, I was ending up with bad pci placement. Without thinking I was pushing forward when I did, making my pci drop.
I'm not a great player, so you can take all of that with a grain of salt, if you wish.
First paragraph should be on a post-it next to every PS4
Worst thing I did was try to change to strike zone view from fish eye and to directional from zone hitting just because of anecdotals.
Think I lasted about 100 pitches on each before I decided they weren’t worth the trouble. The problem is my impulsiveness not the interface.
Also, does anybody else find hitting in 20 a crisper and more satisfying experience than in 19? Presently I’ve only played custom league games. No ranked seasons, batoru rowaiaru or events for me, thanks.
No disrespect but worst thing you can do is give hitting tips for online players when you don't play online. I hear custom leagues hitting is alot better than ranked. Its a whole different experience.

My thumb sticks are sensitive and the PCI does not stay still most of the time, if i can not get it to stay still I leave it where it is at and move with the pitch, it has help me a little. I am not a good hitter.

Showdown is all about being patient. Secondly I went away from strike zone to strike zone high. I’ve lost plenty of showdowns, but enjoy them. As for events ranked and br, it’s hit or miss. Some games I’ll be in, then some I’ll be horrible.

I would do the Challenge of The Week and figure out which hitting view you’re most successful with. I did that 2 years ago and it helped me a lot online.
I guess it also depends on how the games are treating you. There are times I’m super early on 99-101 mph fastballs, and there are other games (in the same division ironically) where I’m “very late.”
If I’m super early on everything, I keep my PCI in the middle. If I notice I’m late a lot, I’ll start my PCI in the high inside corner. It’s like my equivalent to the “Chipper Jones foot tap timing mechanism” lol.The biggest thing is this, and I lose sight of it sometimes, too... find ways to enjoy it. RS is pretty toxic to the game right now, because in my experience I haven’t seen any consistency and it’s frustrating.
I’ve found enjoyment in the showdowns, moments, even MTO isn’t that bad (none of which really make you better in RS/events except for attaining better players). So when I see former Cy Young pitchers like Scherzer, deGrom, Kluber, Snell consistently hanging letter high off-speed in online games, of course I get angry. But I try not to let it manifest into anything destructive because... it’s just a game. Find ways to enjoy it.

I don’t know what pisses me off more, good/popped with Ball inside PCI or change ups 6 inches off target with perfect release.
But the again, Call of Duty is breaking records, while SDS is just happy to be here kind of mentality.

You can’t compare sports games to any type of popular shooter. Not even the same ballpark buddy.

What this guy said is legit..I too noticed that when I swung I got excited and would be jerking up an miss alot if meatballs...I also relaxed an tried moving the pci slightly in one direction or another an not drastically slam it to any side...I am not great either but my contact has gone up alot over the years after making this change
