I catalogued every swing. It's ridiculous. It's not skill. I entered 9-15 with all lefties/switch (Gallo, Wander, Devers, Ohtani, Santana, etc.) (except Trout) against Schmidt. Unless noted in parantheses, the swing was an out.
Early/ok, good/squared, very late/popped, early/chopped, early/chopped, late/ok, PP liner (2B), Good/squared (HR), PP Liner (2B), Good/squared, PP grounder, early/chopped, good/squared, good/ok, good/ok (1B), BB, good/okay, good/okay, BB, good/good (double play), PP liner (HR), early/ok, good/good (1B), good/weak (Fielder's choice), good/good
So now it's 15-15, men on 1st and 3rd, 3 outs to go. I hit a good/good ground ball right at the 3B. My man on 3rd doesn't run, so I hold L1. Probably should have just eaten the double play. But, I also think in a game winning situation, man on 3rd needs to run on a ground ball automatically. But anyway, I ground into the double play, but with the delayed baserunning my man on 3rd gets gunned at home (5-4-3-2-6 TP for those scoring at home).
So is it skill? I have this stuff happen a lot. 3 good/squared outs. 1 PP out. 1 good/good out, 1 good/good double play, 1 good/good triple play. That's me not having skill? That's 10 outs on good/good or better, in a 9-15 showdown.
Nobody cares, but I just needed to vent frustration. Been having tons of showdowns like this last few days.
