I’m not that good but I’m okay especially since I switched to a monitor.
If y’all losing the new showdowns 9 out of 10 times than y’all need to find a new focal point for picking up pitches because whatever your doing isn’t working.
That is just it, we shouldn't have to be going out and buying monitors to play a game. I understand the RS guys wanting to get an edge, but this is ridiculous.
I do agree with that for sure. And I want to play on my 70 inch tv not my 27 inch monitor. But this game has to be played on a monitor. There’s no way around that. If I didn’t switch I would have quit this game already.
Wrong. I play on my 65" LG LED 4k TV that cost $700 at Target. I'm in the Championship Series right now (826) and have been absolutely crushing the ball.
Mr Miyagi will tell you Daniel Son, it is in your head, your mentality.
For sure. I went from 3 wins out of 25 to winning 99% of showdowns due to something in my head. Great post man.
Monitors provide a boost, for sure there's no input lag.
But if you think you can't pay on a TV, that's where i say you are 100% wrong. Just flat out not true. Maybe you need to adjust your settings, but i play on my 65" LG that cost $700 and it was 10ms delay and i rip just fine, CS 826 right now.
You need to put your TV in game mode, shut off any HDR or upscaling or color effects it does, and flip your PS4 resolution from Auto or 1080p to 1080i.
Ahh I see. So you do everything possible in settings to make your TV emulate a monitor. So you don’t need a monitor, just a tv that has settings to make it very similar. You got me.
When discussing monitors on here a lot of guys remind me of youtubers from other sports games that spend $10k on packs then tell everybody how easy it is to be no money spent lol.
It’s all good. I would still tell anybody struggling with showdowns to get a monitor at 5 MS or lower or check their tv settings to see if they can reduce it to that or close to that. It’ll go a lot farther quicker than any practice.
Right, you adjust TV settings to lower input lag. No need for a monitor. You can play on your big screen TV just fine.
Also, I don't buy packs, I go for free cards and use my earned stubs on upgrades, not packs. I still have a gold player at 2B, a gold SP, 3 golds and a silver in my bullpen.
You literally just need to adjust your TV settings for better game play... Much like you adjust settings for playing a movie or watching football.

I came close to making CS on 17 with my TV.

I truly don’t get how people struggle with it so much
I do: they play it like play vs cpu and probably have no patience at the plate. It’s not that hard, but it can be lost sometimes due to bs but most of the time I win. If I lose it’s because I screw up 9/10 times. In the division based one you have little margin of error on the middle boss and it can get you. When I lose it’s normally to the second boss so I sometimes I skip it if I have 8-9 runs at that point.

Plenty of patience here, which works great on final boss that is on AS, but CPU throws a lot more strikes on Veteran, and sadly they aren't always meat balls.

Yeah exactly why I skip the second boss on the Stage one missions. Flaherty and ohtani put balls on the black over and over and over

Glad to see everyone has different opinions!

Yup, I skip them too. Glad to know I'm not the only one who sees it.

Showdown still sucks and SDS rigged my RNG for complaining no doubt
I want to frame this quote and hang it on my wall for whenever I need a good laugh.

How are people still complaining about showdown? I’ve gone 6/6 on stage 2 in the past 2 days going from 0-15. I get it that’s not going to be everybody’s experience but every single mission is on veteran, it’s so incredibly easy guys c’mon now.
You're right. It's incredibly easy for those that are WS tier or close.

How can I hit in custom practice, but be late on fastballs in showdown? I put the same settings in practice. Should be the same, right? And this time you can't take a lot of pitches to tire the pitcher out.
The key is to damage confidence not drain stamina.
Easier to drain Stamina, that's time and patience, confidence comes from hitting the CPU around, but when you fail to do damage and have poor pci placement yielding Ks, you are in big trouble
You're are confusing passiveness with patience.
A passive hitter takes as many pitches as possible. A passive hitter will do something like take until two strikes then start swinging to protect.
A patience hitter spits on balls and pitches on the black, but punishes pitches on the meat of the plate.
Don't confuse the two like you are.
Your best pitch to hit most likely won't come with two strikes. Be patient and punish pitches in the meat of the plate.
It's more effective to drain confidence by not chasing balls and not swinging and missing. Punish the pitches that are good to hit regardless of it is the 1st pitch of an AB, a 2-1 pitch, or a 3-0 or full count.
If you sit at the plate passively, by the time you have drained the pitcher too many outs have occurred and you have too much ground to make up in a short time.
If you are patient and swing at good pitches you will knock down that confidence, create more balls being thrown, create more pitches hung on the meat of the plate, and in the process stamina will still come down. It's easier to hit a pitcher with 80% stamina and 20% confidence than it is to hit a pitcher with 20% stamina and 80% confidence.
In showdown the pitcher is going to hang a lot of pitches. Punish them.
I’m so glad someone posted this. The whole “take until two strikes” idea is kind of contrary to a good hitting approach. As you pointed out, you are not going to get good pitches to hit with two strikes, unless maybe you work the count full. That’s starting yourself in the hole with every at bat.
Taking pitches right down the middle is not the way to become a better hitter.
IMO, the pitcher confidence in this game is ridiculous. A first pitch fastball in the zone is a good pitch to hit. It should not have a lesser chance to fall based on some strange math formula being applied.
