I dont understand the NMS flex.

Meh it’s more of an “accomplishment” than spending money. So let them take pride, as much as should be gotten from a video game at least.
-
Whatever gives broke people more self esteem I’m all for... Kidding.
I actually do enjoy the slow grind though. I've been doing full team inning grinds for Nico Hoerner and Alex Kirilloff which just gives me a chance to use players I normally wouldn't.
-
IMO earning the players make it a much better feeling. Personally I’ve never spend a dime on a game after buying because I feel it just diminishes my sense of accomplishment, that’s just me though. If you have the money and the game is what you like spending it on go ahead.

This seems like the perfect post for me to announce that I got Mantle no money spent a couple of days ago. I still can’t believe I spent 150k stubs to get Cole, a pitcher I’ll never even use, but oh well. Every other year I’ve spent a bit of money to get the job done, but with the pandemic, I had plenty of downtime. I would’ve cracked if the stub sale was 50% off, but 15% was a joke.

Ah man, every year. I can almost guarantee that someone is gonna post “I’m two cards away from Mantle........... NO MONEY SPENT!!” at least once a day. Or the classic where someone says the game is pay to win and twenty people immediately arrive and say “I have Mantle and 4 million stubs left over, NO MONEY SPENT!”
It’s like who cares??? Then someone comes in and says “I dropped $1500 to get Mantle” and everyone goes nuts on them, saying “You are the problem!” or similar things. I don’t care personally. Sometimes I spend my money on stubs, mostly I don’t anymore. I brought Lofton, McGriff and Percival yesterday for a total of 105k stubs, because I wanted to use them, but didn’t really want to play the event forever to earn them. Could I have earned them free with a little time invested? Yup. Could I have got them for a fraction of the price if I waited? Yup. I did get them NO MONEY SPENT, but I also robbed myself of 100k I didn’t need to spend. That’s my choice and I didn’t make a big post about it, all I’d say is it’s the same with Mantle. Unlock him or don’t, spend real money to do so, or don’t. Just understand that nobody else really cares.Started laughing when I read.... “didn’t make a big post about it”. Is this considered small?

Lol, all my posts are like that. I start out writing something and end up with paragraphs and paragraphs. At least I do use paragraphs and not just submit a misspelled wall of text with no punctuation.

My take on this is that I can’t even come close to believing that people drop 500 dollars in a game that only lasts a year. If you do go ahead enjoy yourself. What the heck we’re all different so what we do with our money is no one’s business. The only way I spend and extra couple of dollars on a game is if it has a lengthy dlc that can only be obtained by being bought. In this game though having the choice to get a card for free in my opinion I have no desire to drop real money when I can use it for other games or to save it up.

My take is that if you have a disposable income and you enjoy the product then go for it. Don’t let anyone else sway you

Yea NMS people are the equivalent of “blue collar” people in the real world that are so bitter that they had to work hard to get something. I understand that pride in yourself is necessary to compensate for what you don’t have financially etc but there’s no need to put others down for it. The ones that spend [censored] loads on the game might not have spent their money in the best way but its their money to spend. I spend money on the game when I really want a player not to flex the team I have but genuinely enjoy having that player on my team. I spent about $2000 on the game last year won WS a few times had all the players I wanted to play with and saw no issue with it. Over the course of 12 months I spent maybe $150 a month or a little more depending on if there was a stub sale and at the end of the year I counted up and realized how much I had spent. In retrospect it seems like a lot but I enjoyed the game last year enough to do so. Could I have spent the money better, yes. Did I want to,no. I collect sneakers and spent roughly the same amount on a new pair of Air Jordan 1s when they come out so to rationalize it for myself it was the equivalent of buying a pair each month for a year. So for me that was something that could be lived with in my perspective because I wasn’t broke after doing this and yes I “fed the micro transaction monster SDS” but at the time the game was enjoyable and I love baseball so I got my monies worth. This year is another store I bought the $100 version maybe spent $150-$200 on stubs and the game hasn’t really been fun so I tried stub flipping. Once COVID-19 caused numerous people to be stuck at home it got a significant amount more frustrating to turn a profit so I just gave up. For now I’m sitting on 270k stubs and until there’s a player I really need I doubt I’ll spend anymore on this game. It has become pretty bad in RS on DD almost unbearable for the average player.

Play in Miami, perhaps the rich lawyer guy will have one of his mermaids flash the pitcher again

Its just pride of accomplishment isn't it? I am proud that I completed the collection without having to. I don't mind that other people spend to get who they want. Not everyone has the hours I have to play the game to the point where I could make the collection just from rewards/cards selling. So to each their own, but not going to say I'm not proud of accomplishing it either.
