How is the new event playing?
Is it a Home Run and Strike out fest?
I have lost interest in online play because it seems like the only way to score runs is via the Home Run.
I know that is not the case, but it sure seems that way.I want to jump back into online play, but I don't know if I am interested in HR derby.

Yep. I'm hanging in there by playing at Forbes with excellent defensive OF and happened to pull Trout last week. Even Scherzer, Cole, and DeGrom are struggling in this thing.

It's on as so yeah hr fest. IMO, all events should be on hof because that is where the game plays best

We've been through this, if you look at ranked seasons less than 10% of the user base plays on HoF. I'm sure you'll get HoF events in the future, but it wouldn't be a good idea to cater to that 10% exclusively, as I'm sure their internal metrics have shown.
