    @Onyx_Hokie_2 said in Quitters:

From my perspective, the frequency of mid-game quitting is getting ridiculous. Case in point from a few minutes ago:

Important Note - The game in question was within the current Event

Bottom of the 1st, score tied at 0, 2 outs. I hit a deep solo home run with Mike Trout, and before the ball crosses the wall my opponent quits out of the game. WTAF?!

From the point of view of wanting to do well in the Event, I don't mind the easy win. On the other hand, I didn't join the Event for the glory of accumulating wins in said Event. I joined the Event because I want to play baseball online against other human beings and I tend to expect that there will be fewer instances of cry/pout-quits when the teams are even(ish) by default. Previously, most of the quits I have experienced have been perpetrated by opponents who were overmatched at the time of the quit, either via roster differences or after I've gotten a big lead in the game.

But for Pete's sake... bottom of the 1st, after giving up a single run, with even teams?

I believe that SDS should do at least one of the following, ideally all of them:

    • 1st instance of quitting mid-game: 30-minute ban from online play

    • 2nd instance of quitting mid-game: 2-hour ban from online play

    • 3rd instance of quitting mid-game: 8-hour ban from online play

    • 4th instance of quitting mid-game: 24-hour ban from online play

    • Any further instances of quitting mid-game: 72-hour ban from online play

    • Put quitters into a separate pool of players for online play, an area populated solely by players who have quit mid-game within the past week.

    • Label player icons with a badge indicating their percentage of games they've quit.

    • In online play, after the teams have been set and shown to the players, but before a single pitch is thrown, give opponents the option to avoid playing someone with a quit percentage over a certain value.

The culture that has developed in online play for The Show - a sad exponent of our culture in general at present - enables the immediate rejection of anything which a certain type of person finds to be disappointing, not to their liking, etc. It's bad for the people whose time is wasted and it's bad for the game overall. Something needs to be done about it, in my opinion.

    What do you think?

    All the best,
    Bryan

I would like to respectfully say that your proposal is the dumbest thing I've ever read. What are you, the Playstation Police wanting to give bans out?

I would take a 1st inning win because of an opponent quitting vs. playing the entire game, or even worse going into extra innings 100% of the time. I've never quit a game in the first inning, but I have mid or even towards the end of the game because I just rather not deal with the bullish the game dishes out sometimes.

Bottomline, people can quit if they want, and you're nobody to tell them otherwise. Facts.

Similar penalties have been proposed before and have never gained traction. That is not going to change. If you want to get through a full game online, events are probably the worst place to attempt to do so (besides casual online games). In ranked, you lose rating points so there is incentive to stick it out and try to come back. In BR, if your opponent goes down early maybe they have a winning streak going and are trying to get to 12-0. While there are streak rewards in events, with no entry fee and no 12-0 type of reward, some people would rather cut their losses early and jump into another game to get to the cumulative reward faster.

The only time this really annoys me is when I have a stat mission and some clown quits before the HR counts. I’ve hit 4 HRs with FotF Gallo and I’m still at 0/3 on that stupid mission because of this. I think if your opponent disconnects before a play ends the above punishment, or something like it, should be in play. Also, I think if your opponent quits the game should continue with the CPU taking over for the quiter. This would also eliminate a lot of the beggars. With all that being said, I have no problem with people quoting early in events. To each their own, but I’m the opposite of you. My only goal in events is to get the highest rewards as fast as possible

I couldn’t agree more. I have respect for people that pause and quit AFTER the homer. Be a man and let them get their stay off you.

Great idea. We could have a civil division and one for the quitters who are often also bunt dancers, r2 holders , pause timers happy etc.

Its a three inning game, if I go down by more than 1 early my chances of coming back are low. I see it as saving both of us the time of dragging it out.

Since the middle of last year when I started really sucking. I made a rule this year that I couldnt care less how many losses I have or what my record is. And the way this game plays... I have zero shame in quitting early. And don’t blame anyone else for it either.

The game is more fun when you take it for what it is, a game

I get very annoyed when people quit. I was in a ranked season's game a few days ago and we had a great game going. It was 0-0 in the 6th and then I hit a solo HR. His next at bat he gets a few hits and forces my starter out. He doesn't score but has a little momentum. Next at bat for me, he strikes my first 2 batters out. My next guy hits a double and then my opponent just quit. I was very confused as to why he quit.

It isnt really an opinion. SDS has the button called "Quit", because it allows people to quit. They arent going to punish someone for doing what they have the option to do. If that was the case then maybe we need to punish guys who use certain hitting options or fielding options. Wouldnt make sense. Plus like others have mentioned. I dont want to sit and grind every event win, BR win, and sometimes RS win against someone that has no heart and isnt into the game after they get down a run or 2. There are a lot of youngsters that play this game and lose focus very easy. Imagine having to play a 9 inning game against some poutty kid that is mad because he went down 4-0 in the first and has no confidence in himself. That game would be HELL.

You do not want this. It is like this in 2K and you're forced to play out tedious, boring, long-decided games way too often when people should just quit but they can't bc it will result in being timed out. You much rather get out of there with your win. If you wanna play a full game, play RS. People won't quit bc they wanna protect their rating.

First part was a fact yes but calling someone a nobody is not a fact, that’s one persons negative opinion of them. What if someone else thinks that same person is everything for saying what they said?

    Who’s right?

    No one...wanna know why?

    Cus they are both opinions!

But you throw around insults on here so much you probably think insults are facts. Keep trying son, you’ll get me one day 😜
