Showdown sucks

I don't get it. I play for an hour and a half just to lose on the last boss and then have to start all over. And this is fun? At least let me go back just to the last boss. At least reward me for making it this far. Make me pay the entrance fee again, fine. But make me start over and slog my way through another hour? There is no joy in this.

Your reward for making it to the boss is the stubs and xp gained. Thats why its called showdown. Its do or die. You died.

The reward I want is the 70 DD points.

I love the idea of Showdown, but I just get too stressed and angry while playing. I somehow won my first go at the AL East Showdown and have lost about 4 or 5 in a row now. I wish they had two levels of difficulty, with an easier version that gave about half the rewards.

Showdown is the worst mode ever introduce
-
I beg to differ, I find it quite enjoyable.
-
It's easy and pretty much the option we have so you guys gotta adjust.
If you're getting pissed off at showdown, what helped me, was doing it in chunks. I'll do half, go play something else or go outside, then come back to it.
You get pissed and you already lost.

You are rewarded, next time take notice of all the stubs and XP you gain along the way, even if you lose, it's very healthy.
Also, let's keep things in perspective, it is meant to be a challenging mode, it is meant to be hard, i love that! It's not like conquest which is painfully boring and easy, I'd much rather have a challenge!
Showdown also makes you a better player, in order to win you need good plate discipline, and i don't mean put the controller down until 2 strikes, that's the absolute worst thing you can do. Swinging at any strike is also a bad idea. We are talking true plate discipline. Focus on every pitch and swing only at the good pitches to hit over the meat of the plate. Don't swing at balls, don't swing at pitches on the edge of the zone, wait for a punish pitches over the heart of the plate.
Once you do this and learn good discipline showdowns are easier. They have made me such a better player once i stopped getting frustrated at not winning and focused on what i need to do to be better.
-
You guys wouldve hated old school video games then. You either beat the game, or you didnt, and had to restart all over again. Its meant to be a challenge.
-
Showdown for me = see how many times you can pop out to the catcher or let’s see how many double plays you can hit into

This is a true statement. Showdown requires you to have a good eye for sure. The one thing I'd slightly disagree with is that it makes you a better hitter. On one hand, it does make you a better hitter for offline modes. You're able to read pitches offline better, gain a better idea of how a pitcher sequences their pitches, and recognize how to be a better situational hitter.
On the other hand, it does nothing to help online hitting. Human pitchers pitch nothing like CPU pitchers, so it can often give you a false sense of skill online. The biggest issue though that I see is that online hitting feels night and day different than offline. I've got Mantle in my real team and when I use him in Showdown he crushes the ball if I get good/good or better. When I'm playing online, only 4 games so far so a small sample size, he hasn't been able to hit a pitch into a gap yet. My only XBH was when a guy dove for a sinker liner and missed it that went for a triple.
Showdown is a great mode. It's challenging, it's fun, and it can be frustrating all at the same time, but if you're patient you'll be rewarded more times than not. Even with the CPU making diving catches left and right. Also, I'm not even that great at it. Stage 2 showdowns have seemed easy and I've won 2 of 3 attempts. Stage 1 Showdowns though I've only won 3 times and I've probably tried 50.

I did, why do you think I play sports games, I grew up on NES and Arcade games. It's like an old arcade game, if you suck, you have to spend more quarters.
But at least then you got to continue where you died. What I am saying is let me pay another entry fee when I get beat by the final boss, to have a 2nd crack at him.
What really bothers me is those old games you would get better over time. I've played lots of Showdowns and I really am no better at them now than I was 50 tries ago.

I’d bet you’re a fan of participation trophies
-
I am not a fan of showdowns and player programs being all or nothing modes when it comes to program points, especially since they seem to have completely replaced normal stand alone moments which you can pick and choose in order to earn points.
Based on these modes making 300 stars harder to get to for the average offline player, the underwhelming bosses so far, the decision to tie prestige players to online only stat grinds, and the possibility that 30 of the best end game players in the game will be locked behind four stages of March To October (I am assuming the final affinity card will be a signature series for each team) I will probably not play this game as deep into the year as I did last year.

Try having bases loaded, down 14-15, 1 out left, Giambi up to bat, perfect/perfect exit vel 113mph just to have it die on the warning track... I had to start an MTO on beginner and knock around the computer just to feel better.. and drink the rest of my beers helped too.

Try being robbed of a HR that ends the game in very similar situation, by Tim friggin Tebow .... full on jump at the wall and pull it back ..... that was one of the most unrealistic things I’ve ever seen on here... lol

I'm torn on Showdown. I think the basis of it is fantastic, it brings a different light to the game for those that don't want to grind full games and the concept is actually cool.....but goodness gracious can it be frustrating. Ripping for an hour, going into the final boss down 5 with 15 outs and an absolutely stacked line up only to garner 2 hits total....makes you want to throw the game out the window then cartwheel into traffic.
Showdown seems like the easiest way to progress in team affinities/1st/2nd/3rd inning programs.....they just are not that easy lol
