So I’m almost to Gold 1 and I’m not so much looking for your suggestions (although I’ll post my team and take them) but what is your strategy when you reach silver, gold or diamond 1? Do you take the position you need most or the “best available” player?

In case you want to give me some advice, my team is:

    1. Rickie Henderson-CF (pretty new to the team, hitting right at .300 in about 25 AB’s)
    2. Tony Gwynn-RF (brand new to the team)
    3. Minnie Minoso-LF (hitting .270 in about 75 AB’s)
    4. Nolan Gorman-3B (new to the team, hitting over .400 in about 10 AB’s)
    5. Mike Piazza-C (new to the team, hitting over .400 in about 10 AB’s)
    6. Jason Giambi-1B (hitting .300 in about 100 AB’s)
    7. Gleyber Torres-SS (hitting .280 in about 175 AB’s, planning on replacing with Chipper)
    8. Roberto Alomar-2B (hitting .300 in about 70 AB’s)

Also, I am terrible with Posey every year and I’ve used him in BR and showdown this year and have gotten maybe 2 hits in about 20 AB’s. Suggestions and also your strategy?

I am also coming up on Gold 1 and I'm torn between Larkin or Sandberg. I've played against Sandberg and he always tips against me plus having 2nd or 3rd capability. But I've heard nothing but great things about Larkin.

Reggie Jackson needs to be in the lineup. Best hitter in the game sans maybe mantle.

Make sure to give sandberg some time if you’re not hitting with him right out of the gate. I struggled early with him and now he’s one of my favorite players. I forget what his clutch rating is but he seems to get big hits when you need them

I would say sandberg is better than larkin. Everything off of larkins bat seems so dead but that could be me. I havent hit well with him ever.

See to me its a weird situation where we now know we get prestiged versions of them. I honestly intentionally am waiting on posey purely so I can see which of the others whose swings I haven't ever used I like because I know I can hit with posey

Sandberg takes time but he is now my 3 hole. Defense is legit

i would warn you replacing gleyber at short with chipper. id definitely say to put chipper in left or third with his poor defense. Go Larkin to replace him

A lot of the players you are struggling with have very few AB's. Consider giving each player 100 AB's before deciding to keep or move on. That pack will be in your inventory when you are ready to open it up. I am at gold 60 and still haven't opened up the Show Classics pack I got at gold 40 because I am not sure if I want a speedy RH Nationals CF or a STL RHP in Reyes. Since I can complete most St. Louis pitcher missions with the free Gibson card, I'll likely go with Robles to get an extra Nats bat for Nats missions, but I'll burn that bridge when a Nats daily comes up.

As for Sandberg v Larkin...I don't have Larkin, but I have concluded that Sandberg was a wasted pick for me. In 110 online AB's he is batting .088. I'll keep him around because I have to and he'll help me knock out Cubs related dailies, but I do wish I had picked Reggie, Minoso, or Larkin over him.

Larkin numbers don't add up to the way the ball comes off his bat. Like a whiffle bat. Go Rhino
