First of all, the game really isn’t bad. I haven’t had any horrible experiences with fielding since the last patch. Yeah, hitting may need some tweaking, but overall it’s not bad. Sure, the pitching is hard to control but how would it feel if every single player you faced could dot sinkers on the corner every pitch? Hanging pitches happens, get over it.
The only thing I really don’t like is the loss of double points on MTO, which kills any motivation to play the mode. For me, the 6 hours minimum for around 50 team affinity points is just not enjoyable. It really doesn’t compete with showdown.
I already know that a lot of people will complain about homerun derby xp getting reduced. I don’t even know anyone that was willing to sit on homerun derby for 5+ hours a day just for xp. Although it takes no skill, I would like to congratulate those who have sat through some mind numbing hr derby sessions.
They also reduced the xp in retro mode, who knows by how much yet, because you could simply afk it as the computer walks you and get 15 levels overnight. This was definitely being exploited as some of the rosters in the vault had over 1000 downloads. I’m happy this is getting fixed.
Overall, I’m actually excited to see how many people will sit here and complain about how it’s gonna be iMpoSsIbLe tO gEt xP. The xp reward path wasn’t made to be completed in 2 months. If you want xp, play the game regularly or play showdown like the rest of us. If retro mode didn’t get patched, it would’ve been so interesting to see what teams would look like in the future. Eric Thames, J-Ram and prestige Sandberg everywhere!

They patched two things that I didn't think really needed to be patching. The perfect jump stealing (not sure how they fixed it). If they made it so pitchers just slide step more than is fine. I just hope they don't have the pitchers throwing over every time we take a lead now. Also, MTO shouldn't have been patched for "double points" at least not if you have to complete Stage 1 and 2 still. I can see if you only have stage two left. I am still not sure how they patched Retro Modes/HRD XP because it doesn't say they made it zero so I am curious how much they actually reduced it.

Ahh i forgot about the perfect jump. See, I had my own method, not really sure if I was doing it right lol. Kinda sucks that i’ll ground into more double plays on showdown. Also, I can’t imagine the xp from offline modes to be anywhere near where it was was before.

I agree with most of this, I appreciate the rational approach. This game is incredibly addictive to baseball lovers, and even though it has a few gameplay flaws I’m glad it exists.
Have to disagree with your position on hangers, or at least clarify what my problem with them is. Hangers are part of baseball... they have to exist in game. In past years, they worked pretty much the way they do in real life, you aim at something, screw up, and miss your target. Sometimes you get crazy break that you didn’t expect. Sometimes you just have a bad grip, the thing pops off your hand and floats in. But what DOES NOT happen is that when you make an execution mistake a gravity vortex opens up and magnetizes the ball to middle/middle. The entire game is an illusion. We are not playing baseball, we are moving dots through x/y axi and timing button presses. The art comes in tricking us into feeling like it’s baseball in some visceral way. It’s extremely artificial and shatters the illusion that you are throwing a ball... and that diminishes enjoyability.

That’s definitely an interesting way to put it, however I personally haven’t had it happen to me all that often. I get what your saying, and yeah I do miss my spots, but sometimes it works out in the end. I do feel like it happens more often with certain cards. For example, Blake Snell’s slider and curveball always seems to be left over the plate even if I aim for the dirt. This is just my experience.

That’s facts, and I wonder how it’ll work out. I feel like if they just cap the amount of xp from one retro game it could easily be fixed.

I honestly think the offline mode XP is all tied together in a set of code that would have to edit the whole thing to be honest which is why almost everything was edited.

And that may very much so be the case, and as long as conquest and showdown aren’t tweaked, that’s great.

Conquest isn't offline technically but I bet you Franchise games XP is tweaked they just didn't mention it because who the hell is playing Franchise that cares about XP.

At this point who’s playing franchise mode. They have no updates to it every single year. And it probably sounds like I’m just whining but I don’t intend to. I really enjoy DD and have OTTP for when I want a franchise experience. I’m just saying we can agree there is no effort put into franchise mode in the show
-
All you have to do is play the game to earn XP. I’d rather they nerfed the amount of XP you can gain in modes that are being exploited than cap the amount you can earn per day, although I suppose the cap is generous enough most people won’t hit it anyway.
-
HR derby was not an exploit. you received 25xp per HR hit. exactly how it was programmed by SDS. shame on them for nerfing that.
and it sets the example that they will restrict rewards in this game whenever it fits their needs, not the player base. it's greed, pure and simple.
-
Not happy about losing double points on MTO. They all but acknowledged that S1 Showdowns are bull [censored]. It was the only [censored] way to get points for teams in the East, those two Showdowns are bitches.

Yeah they should totes not patch glitches because you like to exploit them...that is totally the right way of doing things

how am i wrong? there was no exploit. you played a mode that gave you 25xp per HR. it's that simple. they reduced the amount per HR. what are you missing here?
-
I can’t remember, but did it say XP would be affected in RTTS?
If I get to where I’m satisfied in the inning programs, sometimes I’ll jump over to RTTS to bang out some XP. (Haven’t done it lately bc there’s been a decent amount of content added on DD). You’re able to get a decent amount from pitching a game, especially if you have quality starts, shutouts, go deep in the late innings, etc. -

Playing a casual mode for the sole purpose of gaining rewards in a completely unrelated different mode is exploiting. It doesn’t matter if it was 25xp per HR in years past. There was no issue with HRD grinding for XP in previous years. None. Blame the losers who had to have the prestige rewards in April instead of getting them over time like you were supposed to. Other people cheating the system and SDS fixing it is not anyones fault but the people that were cheating

lol playing a casual mode in the way it was designed by SDS is exploiting?
who are you or SDS to dictate how a game should be played, especially when its being played within the way it was programmed?
my god the SDS sheep have reached a new level!
