Last night I played my 9th H2H game ever. It was a BR game where the screen froze while I was trying to bring in a relief pitcher after my starter got tossed because my opponent kept causing the game to jot allow me to pitch the ball.
I ended up hitting a few batters because of this.
Anyway. I assume the game got thrown into a freeze off.
Since I had a chance to cone back, I decided to wait and see if it would rectify itself. While waiting for this; my opponent decided to send me 53, yes 53 I didn't type that wrong, messages via my console.
They ranged from vulgar messages calling out my supposed sexuality, to my parents' supposed sexuality, to my mentality, and to 28 straight messages, within a 3 minute timeframe, just saying 'Quit'.
Is this what online play is like with this game?
If so, no wonder online play gets a bad rap.

report them?
-
Yep. It's common in any online game. Report them and turn your messages off.

@HustlinOwl @LankyRyan
I did. I took screenshots of All The messages and sent them to the proper department(s).
I also took the time to manually report each and every message through my console.
I'm going to have to look into setting it up where I can only receive msgs from certain players.

Sorry man. Remember a lot of the people playing are 12 year old brats. Just ignore it.
The easiest way to avoid this problem is to set messages to private, so messages from unknown users won’t be received at all.
– On the PS4, just navigate to Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings > Personal Info/Messaging, and set Messages to either “friends only” or “no one.”
– This change can also be made on the web from Sony’s website, just login using a PSN account. -
Yeah, I learned fast to turn off messages, theres a lot of douchebaggerey out there, and to never EVER accept a party invitation cause then they'll crash your PS. This is the main problem with online to me, I would play online if I could actually just play someone who wanted to play an actual game - win or lose. But then you run into these a**holes and for me all it takes is one and then I don't want to play that mode anymore. It's sad what this game has become to me - franchise (which is what made this game to start with IMO) is a joke and has been neglected for years, RTTS is right there going down the same path also. If it's not DD ( and someone spending real money on top of the game cost) it never gets fixed or even looked at except some BS prelaunch hype that never is what they spin it as. I wasn't even going to buy this year, but this lockdown got me to buy it out of hope for the franchise being updated- only to find out it's still a joke and even the relocation is stupid when the other teams name is everywhere. Each year it just makes it more clear to me that the game is secondary to what cards they can come up with to try and get people to spend money on. Why did it take until this year to get minor league players put in the game when they have had the ability and rights to do that for a long time? And then, surprisingly, all those minor league future stars are now reward cards for playing in DD. But franchise is still broke AF

Definitely adjust your messaging settings if you want to play sports games online. Also prepare yourself for idiotic behavior. Finally, set your expectations low for quality of gameplay.

Just wait until your opponent keeps fouling off pitches with Ozzie Smith..and then takes you yard when you miss your spot. Then proceeds to bunt dance....

It sucks you ran into someone like this, and honestly I don’t understand why this ALWAYS happens to offline guys that decide to test online for the first time in a while. Like it seriously seems like the guys that are already hesitant to guy online run into toxic players more than anyone. Honestly I only run into really toxic players once every 50 games or so
-
Those guys are definitely out there, but I don't honestly run into them that often. Definitely turn off messages though, can't stress that enough.
