Did you know you can get injured in Ranked Seasons?

I was playing a ranked game last night and on the first or second pitch of the game my starter, Luis Patino, had a ball got off his far head. The game stopped, made some type of announcement that he was hit in the head and needed to come out of the game. I didn’t think you could get injured in DD. Is this a common occurrence? I’ve played hundreds of ranked games last year and over a 100 this year and never saw this.

It used to be able to happen to any player on the field after a dive for example. Now it only happens when a pitcher takes a headshot as far as I know.

That's my understanding, as well. It also makes durability a pretty useless attribute for position players.

Injuries to pitchers I think is new this year. Don't recall pitchers getting injured over the last few. They acted like human pitching screens several times a game and I never took one out due to injury ('19 and earlier)

I know a lot of people hated injuries ("I just want to play with my best players") but I loved them. Made bench construction important and increased the value of utility type players.

That and I really enjoyed watching idiots spam dive/jump on pop ups/fly outs only to get an injury notification to one of their best players.

It’s not new. I only remember because last year I had hardware Arrietta take one off the head and get pulled in 3 straight games
