I like playing events over any other online mode because it is generally more casual. A loss is a loss. It doesn't knock you down a tier, like Ranked. It doesn't cost money, like BR (though I do enjoy BR this year). However, this event sucks. It is catered to the elite. I don't understand why they made this event. Usually SDS adjusts and releases packs or cards that are event based (like a program) and easily accessible. Not now though. Every single team has Ohtani pitching and FS Bohm batting cleanup. I could care less about how one fields their team. If they grind their time for great cards or buy them. To each their own. I just think events should be more evenly matched based on available cards within circulation. I mean, they just released FS Affinity on Friday and every single event team I play is stacked with them. I kid you not, every team is a God squad of FS cards! Every team. Do they ever play each other, I wonder? Or do they hope to match up with suckers like me that has all gold prospects and the occasional diamond just trying to grind a few online dailies? I really don't get the reason I keep seeing Bohm though. I thought that was the only purpose for the event grind? I digress though.
How do you hit Ohtani? Directional? Close your eyes and hit X? WTF is he a glitch or what?
In short, this event sucks! I have absolutely no intent on playing the next one either. I would never use Lux or Bohm anyway (though I could use the stubs from a sell).
I think, in the end, this event sucks because it is 6 innings. 6 innings of nerfed minor league players hitting dingers off my gold/common pitcher.
Fun times.

To even qualify for this event you need FoTF or FS team meaning you’ve grinded or done exchanges. Weeds out lots below average players. No one is putting a team of commons together to get slaughtered.
I mean that's fine. But grinding and doing exchanges doesn't equate to skill in the game.

And by that I mean basically anyone can do Showdowns.

Lol I played a World Series guy game one and lost. Second game going in 0-1 I face a guy with a 27-3 RS record and lose again. Only to start the next event and play another WS guy. Not trying to complain but I miss the good old days where game one was against somebody who seemed like they’ve never picked up a controller before
It seems you are that guy now 🧐

I think I have 7 wins in this current event. Today I played a WS guy who had just about all FS players already. It took him five innings to mercy rule me.
Here’s the thing though. He never took an extra step lead. He didn’t bunt dance or cheese, and after he had a 5-0 lead on me he more or less played station to station.
It was a bummer getting rocked by home run after home run, but I honestly had fun playing.
I would rather be mercy ruled by someone good at the game than face a lot of the lesser players who resort to constantly trying to steal and bunt or exploit stadium lag.
Some of these WS players play the game the right way (other than that high sinker).

I have losing record and I have faced another player with losing record maybe twice in this event. I don't mind losing to better players, I try to practice my online skills, but this event Is not for bad players

The thing about that too is that it's really tough to get better at the game if you're scraping by on bunts and baserunning. The bottom line is baseball games are won and lost with crooked innings and cheesers struggle to put up more than one run an inning. You have to hit your way to the top, and the only way to do that is to practice playing the game the right way.

I heard a stat watching a game once (I know I’m probably forgetting something about it) that said more often than not, the runs scored in a crooked inning, will be more than the other team’s runs all game. Puts things into perspective. Maybe. Writing it out makes it seem like it doesn’t actually make sense and I was on drugs

Sounds crazy but I could definitely see it being true. I think that crooked innings are especially important in MLB The Show because if you score one run an inning, that's nine runs. More often than not, you'll have to score more than nine runs a game to hang with the top players.

I agree with some of the comments made. Thus year the game is tough due to pandemic and everyone able to stay home and play 24/7 while essential workers work. I was telling a buddy the other day, I don’t remember playing so many diamonds and this year I’ve played against more diamonds already than I did last year. Now I know that doesn’t mean they are skilled but the do have the guys where they can make a mistake and accidentally hit balls even when they mess up because of the bigger pci etc. I liked when events were like 25 wins at most, I feel the events cater to people who can just play all the time during the times we are going through. Sorry for long post not griping just stating an opinion. Still have fun with the game

Not if you read these forums and the 20 new threads a day about how rigged they are and the 20 perfect/perfect line outs they had, hahaha
