My Hitting sucks!

So I Can’t hit period. Playing online I’m either too early or too late...can’t read the low breaking balls. I find I can hit veteran and rookie but allstar gives me trouble (showdown). I swing at everything I find.
First time I’ve bought a Baseball game in years, I’m 43....is there a learning curve. Tips/tricks? Or just keep playing and hope it gets better? My pitching seems okay.

The type of screen you’re using makes a huge difference in this game.

Tv/monitor?

TV is totally fine just make sure it is set to game mode. As far as the hitting view goes I use offset zoom, some people use strike zone but I find that to be less enjoyable aesthetics wise.
ultimately it just takes practice to learn the strike zone and what balls not to swing it. When I first started I had the same problem, I got some good advice from somebody that I took to heart not to swing until I had two strikes and it really help me learn the strike zone.

@thelowrie5 you need to have discipline at the plate. Look at your universal profile and see where you stand swing% try to be normal or below. As far as timing guess which pitch is coming, look for it only and lay off anything else. Mb split the zones in 1/4 and only chase the 1/4 you chose. I do this when I’m struggling. Sometimes I split it in 1/2, 1/3 1/6 depending on count. Unless defending 2 strike count. If your zone and often late, put pci higher in zone, lower if your early. Watch ball at release point to help identify pitches faster. Progression comes with time in this game. You can’t become great overnight

Highly recommend you use the following settings:
Hitting View - Strike Zone
In - Play View Offense - Medium works alright
Hitting interface - Zone
Input type - buttons
analog type - flick
Plate Coverage Indicator - ON
PCI Center - Diamonds
PCI Inner - Basic
PCI Outer - I like starfighter
PCI Color - I like white
PCI Transparency - 70% works for me
PCI Fadeout - OUTERThese settings really helped me make better contact, because you need to get the center squared on the ball to get Perfect contact. To get perfect timing, obviously you will practice and learn the way the pitches look from different guys when they come in to you as a righty or a lefty. For that, I also recommend you go to custom practice mode, set the difficulty to legend, and try to GET ON BASE, not just get a hit.

A lot of times when I strike out, I strike out looking. In full counts there’s just as much pressure on the pitcher as their is you if off speed is coming. I think I’d rather strike out looking then flailing at a breaking ball that was below the zone that would have been a ball

I’m 36, have played every year and I am having the same issues for some reason this year. I’ve seen improvements tho but it’s going to take practice. Put the sliders for pitch and breaking ball speeds all the way up. Go to practice mode and put on legend. Pick pitchers with high pitch speeds. I choose Chapman or Newheiser. Go two days or so just practicing with these pitch speeds. I know it seems boring cuz there are no rewards but I promise in the long run it will help. When u hop online the pitches will feel slow.
Just know if u turn off the system you would either have to load the sliders back up or just have to change them urself again. It will not load either he changes automatically -
I don't often strikeout, but when I do strikeout, I strikeout looking.

Try Custom Practice on Legend. I play it constantly especially when scouting Showdown Bosses.
Don't feel bad: I'm 42 and been playing this game since it was called Baseball Stars and I still can't hit the High-and-Tight Cheese... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Number one mistake most casual noobs make is try to play sports game on a TV, I hear some of them even play Formula 1 games on a TV, which is the most ridiculous thing I've heard.
