Today's Finest Cards Revealed
-
This game has 100s of cards you need to realistically buy. Wood will cost 80k if you choose to be impatient. The others less. Juan Soto costs far more than all of these combined. Getting the rare rounds of the Finest pack will be more costly too.
And there is actually a stub free path for these, which is a welcome change. Yes its an opportunity cost from selling live series, but between all the ballins, vault packs, and 85/88+ packs plus forever season coming up I suspect the average player will have no issue getting this exchange done stub free if they choose.
-
Most players didn’t save up their live series diamonds. Not allowing exchanges for golds, silvers and bronzes shows they knew exactly what they were doing. Unless pack odds shifted from 1 in 50 to 1 in 8 packs getting the diamonds required without buying them will take longer than most players want to wait. Bizarre stuff to say the least.
-
I have never seen people lose their [censored] like this over cards that are not even expensive.
-
I think it has less to do with the cards actual cost and more just this on top of everything else this year. It’s been a rough year for the game on almost every level imaginable.
I truly feel that this exchange would have been received much better if they allowed any cards to be exchanged or at least either any diamonds or any live series, much like the team affinity exchanges used to be.
By restricting it specifically to live series diamonds it means people are sitting on a ton of duplicates they can’t use.

Just because you have a ton of stubs does not mean everyone does. Don't forget that three of the cards from the pack yesterday are going for roughly 175K each this morning.
Do they release another pack and even more exchanges today?
And, I'll be honest, the thought of putting in that many buy orders is enough to deter me. 85's are going for roughly twice their quick sell values. Chapman's buy now price was 3500 on the 2nd and is now at 6,999.
So, if it takes roughly 69 exchanges of 85 live series to get all of the cards needed for the exchange and they are going for an average of 6,000 stubs each then that is 414,000 stubs just to get these 4 cards.
Add in the cost of the pack cards and you are looking at 1 million stubs and that is just for the cards from Day 1.
What's in store for us today? Since they labeled yesterday's pack Pack 1 then I assume we get another one today.

Counter point is it would be absolutely pointless to release cards that everyone could just dump their slivers and bronzes in and get right away
This isn't meant to be something you buy your way to on day 1. Its mean to be a longer term goal. You will likely never pull the three specific rare round cards naturally. You will get the LS needed for these naturally though.
-
You think in November people are in it for the long haul? A long term collection is fine early or mid season but this is end game and it’s November. The real baseball season is already over.
Cards shouldn’t be restricted at this point. Clearly you are struggling to see this from others point of view. We all are entitled to our opinions but this is not a player friendly move in the least. It’s designed to force players to empty their stub banks by keeping finest card prices high and driving up the price of live series diamonds due to a sudden spike in demand.
Personally I’ve built up a good sized stub bank so it doesn’t effect me much but I can see where it negatively impacts a large percentage of the remaining player base. It’s a bad look and I emphasize with players where stubs are scarce. Especially kids, like my son.
Just another money move in a year full of them which does not bode well for the future of this once great franchise. The gap between them and EA is closing fast. Hold on to your butts.
-
I dont think its a money move though - its a move designed to try to give you reason to keep playing the game.
If you play the game, you naturally get a ton of live series cards - which now have some use (not just quick sell for 3k).
All the people complaining are just mad that they cant hit a "Win Now" button and get every card. And they always say the same thing - SDS is greedy! SDS isnt "player friendly"!"
But I doubt many people are buying stubs for this - just play the game and you'll get it. Isn't encouraging players to play actually quite "player friendly"?

I do agree with both yours and @teak2112_mlbts sentiments.
Is it horrible as people are making out to be no. They should have included other diamond cards as well or all live series cards. That would have made it more player friendly especially for more new recent players that joined when the game became free a couple months ago, the exchange aspect is simply a huge missed opportunity for future player base growth
What's more infuriating and frustrating then the exchange is the omission of these Finest packs in deluxe and premier packs.

People aren’t exactly losing their sh!t, it’s just super lame any annoying. I don’t mind spending 30k to 80k each on four cards for a collection if I have to, but making dozens of buy orders for the low diamonds is so stupid. I put in 20 orders (19 actually because of the one I’ve already collected) and checked back a few hours later. Had to reprice them when I was outbid. Then I get restricted several times while cancelling old orders because I was tapping too fast. Not losing my sh!t but very, very annoyed!!!
-
I swear - if SDS came out and announced they are disabling the ability to buy stubs for the rest of this game - people would still call them greedy.
They'd be like "Id rather pay 500 bucks to SDS than play another round of Diamond Quest!"
The most galling and inhumane request that SDS can make - according to most Show players - is that you ask them to actually keep playing The Show.

What you said makes sense in most cases, but not in the context of this 85-91 live series diamond exchange. This exchange does not incentivize playing the game. Instead it incentivizes buying lots of live series duplicates for exchange purposes… in November!!! -

Instead it incentivizes buying lots of live series duplicates for exchange purposes… in November!!!I disagree, you get a lot of show packs and ballin packs from playing the game (depending on which content you play...if you only repeat draft conquest you are out of luck). Vault packs have been handed out more and more frequently. The forever path will have some more stuff, the Finest mini season will also probably be loaded
They will also probably release a few conquest maps in December as well
There are a LOT of live series diamonds still to be earned for people who play the game regularly, and they should be making content for the longer duration players as opposed to the players that are stopping after Finest/for GTA/etc
Don't get me wrong, I would greatly prefer a major Finest program that takes 50+ hours to complete similar to an old style TA drop. But this at least allows people that want the cards in 30 minutes to be able to do so (those same people would mostly HATE a program with a lot of effort) and the people that want to earn them over time can do that as well. Its not great content, but its something different and I really don't think it is particularly greedy.
-
Just a FYI there is no content today, it's tomorrow and Friday

Ah, thanks.
I don't know why I thought it was three straight days.
Not a fan of them taking a day off and forcing fans of other teams to wait even longer for their finest reveals.
-
The second question is - what is even the value of these cards? How many of them do you actually really want?
A few of them are playable, but not better than 5 other options you already have.
Thats the part about this whole "card collecting" thing that I dont get. Where's the incentive?
-
@rubicante23_PSN
I’m getting them for the collection because I don’t get every card in the game, just enough to finish the L&F collection for the voucher. Exchanging the Live series diamonds is cheaper than buying Soto, McLain, etc. and if you do it your way (earning from packs via gameplay and saving them to exchange later) It’s even cheaper or free. And you’re right, it wasn’t that bad to exchange them. Just a little weird.
-
I just got Turang. So, that leaves just Wood at 500K exchange points. Our dear friend Mr. Glasnow is worth approximately 58K so you need 9. He’s going for 7K stubs or thereabouts so 63K is not bad compared to the 150K for the ones you have to buy. I’m a collector so I think this isn’t too bad. All 4 Exchange cards total are 1.4M or 25 Glasnows which is 175K stubs. That’s an average of 44K per player. I’m wondering if there will be more exchanges the next two drops. Good luck!

@PapaRick68_MLBTS
Good point about Thursday and Friday drops having exchanges also. That’s definitely a possibility at this point. -

I wondered about multiple exchanges in either this thread or the other. We knw we are getting more packs because this one specifically was labeled as Finest Pack 1. The Exchange was not labeled with a #1 though so maybe that is it?
Of course maybe they don't need to number them and can simply add more cards to the existing ones.
