Looking at the Cardinals I see 3 main candidates for a Finest Card.

    Jordan Walker
    Alec Burleson
    JJ Wetherholt

All three of those guys have a 99 already. Walker is the best choice because his 99 was from the HRD and a Finest would probably be a big upgrade.

Burleson got a late season 99 Spotlight and JJ just got a special Autumn Topps card not too long ago.

I remember when multiple 99s for a single player were not a thing. This year I have a feeling that the game might set a record for most players with multiple 99s.

Is this year really any different than past years? 2023 had way more duplicate 99s, and I assume 2024 did as well (although they barely had any Finests in particular that year) although that was sets era.

When you start giving out 99s in July this is bound to happen.

The issue isn't giving 2026 multiple season focused 99s.
Its not giving as many 99s for everyone else.

When I sit down at my computer I will check the numbers. I think I can do that

Okay, maybe it is the old man in me yelling "Back in my day"

Obviously I was thinking of 2022 and earlier when it was VERY rare. Although the end of Sets and Seasons cut it way back down last year.

    2021
Only 3 players with two 99s

    2022
    4 players with 2 99s

    2023
67 (Thanks to Sets and Seasons)
    Maybe more with Incognito

    2024
    70 Players
46 of those were Captain Cards, 30 of which were auto-boosted at the end of the year.

    2025
    20 Players
Went back down significantly with the end of sets and seasons

    2026
    7 so far

I think we will end up with this year having the most multi-99 players outside of the Sets and Seasons years

They realistically shouldn't. Everyone relevant already has a 99.

You could argue Benge deserves a higher 99. But he also deserves the ROY award he probably wont get (I'm sure Dolenz has his own thoughts on the MLB awards so far...).

Actually TJ Rumfield had the most impressive rookie season to me, but didn't even make the finalists

Man, they are not teasing anything yet with programs happening for the next three days.

I assume that means there will be One for the East teams, one for the Central Teams and one for the West Teams
