"Play Your Way"
-
Since this is coming up again I will ask the same questionI always ask...the only evidence I have ever been able to find of SDS saying "play your way" was in regards to the release of the new multiplayer program. If it was ever used in any other context I would love to see it. People always just say "it was in the streams" but then when I ask which one they disappear and nobody has ever been able to point to it actually being said. So if anyone knows when they said it in another context, please let us know.

As for the rest of the topic...Personally I have no issue with mode specific cards, its always been part of the game, and if there is a mode I don't feel like playing then I just will live without having that specific card.
With that said, I also would have no issue at all if they did away with mode specific cards either. I'm not sure what the best way to implement that really is, but I'd be fine with it if they can come up with something that works. In the end I think the easiest solution is to just make everything sellable, so if someone doesn't want to play a mode they can at least still get the card another way.
The bottom line is the idea of "play your way" that most people use it in is simply impossible, because I think everyone agrees there should be some sort of limits/restrictions/requirements to what needs to be done to earn cards.
-
There have been mode specific cards for many years. The difference this year is that they made so many offline rewards no sell. So while I am not forced to play online to get a card since it is still available to buy, the reverse is no longer true.
To add on to this, they have also dramatically increased pack cards over the last two years. We now have weekly spotlight packs (actually impossible to get all of these via gameplay, even if you had perfect luck), weekly chase cards, and the special pack drops (Vintage, Moonshot, etc) are not choice packs so you may need to open 100s to get the card you want. All of this is greatly expanding the supply of cards you need to use stubs on.

Honestly, I’m with SDS on this. I don’t think “play your way” means every reward needs to be available through every mode. Different modes having their own rewards makes sense and gives people a reason to try them.
Personally, I like programs that get me playing modes I wouldn’t normally play. It breaks up the routine and gives me something different to work toward. Otherwise, I’d probably just stick to the same things and miss out on parts of the game.
I still get to decide what’s worth my time and which rewards I want to pursue. We can debate individual requirements, but I don’t think SDS encouraging people to experience more of the game is inherently a problem.

Encourage: yes
For example, if the multiplayer path didnt have cards, people would still play it because of the 50 bundle and pack rewards along the way
Conquest is another one people play because there is good incentive

It was said a lot more in past years than this year, which is a no brainer since they stopped live streaming or saying much this year
These days, like you said don't really mention it much at all.
It still pertains to the XP Inning path but not much else

I've still never been able to find evidence of them saying it outside of the multiplayers program, in which case it is true that you can play your way to complete that. It makes sense for the inning path as well, so I could see that. If just seems like the community has flipped it and incorrectly attributed it to meaning "play your way" and still earn all the cards in the game.

That why is said

I am not going to dig up live streams from past years. Essentially since you and I agree that it was never meant to be an all encompassing statement.

Yep, we are in agreement.

I suggested people are twisting the intent of the phrase as well. It's still a good concept, within reason. Some might consider just flipping cards all day as playing their way, why should they have to swing a bat at all? But focusing on more absurd things like that shouldn't distract SDS from the fact that a lot of people would prefer more flexibility in earning rewards

Exactly, well said.

All I want is repeatable pxp missions back

Mandatory moments once again today

I dont get the vitriol for moments. I dont play h2h, and rarely play above veteran using directional hitting and pulse pitching. Yet I have very little problems with moments. Yes there are some that frustrate the ish out of me, but not many.

Mandatory moments once again today
At least you can skip one or two, this time.

Imagine if the triple were required.

CPU game at polo and you’d get it in 1 inning.

@Bridge-Piece_XBL
Except don’t you need 30 triples to get the Polo Grounds?! -
I honestly don't know what would bring me back to the show. I canceled my ps live and it'll be dead by the time the new game releases.
I really didn't like diamond quest ever.
Momwnts and conquests are fine so long as they didn't become laborious (past few years they have been). Mini seasons gets boring quick and I've never really loved that mode playing at the same few stadiums.
I could Def "grind" br and events and play for a number of hours but br died and events idk what happened. Ranked I gotta be in the mood far.
But online okay, if it's not cheating it's just humans being asses 80% of the time. I think the users have killed online mode more than SDS possibly could. It's just not fun with bunt dancing, excessive pause, dashboarding all hrs, quitting if you're down two, mix in terrible connections.
I couldn't even brainstorm what I think sds should do. I almost feel they would need to revamp think entirely out of the box and present something completely new.
