This community shoots itself in the foot when it comes to one issue - grinding.

Half of this community wants no grind - they just want to be given the cards for no effort. Some of these players are really good, some streamers...and only want to play ranked god squad on repeat. Some of them are really not good, and dont want to have to play the game to earn things.

The other half of the community wants interesting and lengthy grind options - that you must go through to get unique rewards. Team Affinity, offline modes, online paths, event and BR grinds, etc....but not just play a few games and heres the card. A slow build where you have to keep putting in time and keep progressing.

Theres no satisfying both of these groups. Theres no midfle ground. SDS would prefer to just side with the anti-grinders if push comes to shove - then they can reduce unique content.

I think the game has long term grinds, they just aren't engaging long term grinds.

A chase card is a long term grind. A collection is a long term grind. How do you acquire these? Grind for stubs and buy cards. Thats what most of the game has been reduced to, grind stubs to buy cards. Or what SDS prefers: buy stubs to buy cards.

This year has more repeatable offline content than prior years, but its all for packs that most of the time will just be quick sell cards instead of the actual cards you need

And they also managed to make the inning xp path into the least rewarding battle pass in gaming. Some innings that was a 50+ hour grind, to be rewarded by getting single show packs deep into it

There's also the group who either don't have enough time to grind or they don't have enough time to play after they've grinded hours for a card.

There are grinds and then there are GRINDS.

A grind for someone who has 10 hours a week to play and a grind for someone who plays 30 hours a week are very different.

Then there is the skill issue. Racking up 50 hits in online modes is going to feel like less of a grind to a skilled player while feeling like a unreachable grind by a lesser skilled player.

I have said it before, when it comes to the game they should not cater it to the top 10% or the bottom 10%. Not in time spent or skill. It's that middle 80% that is paying the bills for them.

I like all sorts of grinding because it’s satisfying for me.

I enjoyed the mini seasons when I had to complete quests for cards. But then people complained, so now all we get are packs. As someone with lots of stubs, grinding for packs isn’t as fun (I haven’t finished any of the last ~5-6 mini seasons).

I’ve enjoyed past programs where you could chose online or offline missions (or a combo of both as I like to do).

Idk, for me - the grind keeps me going. I’m also not at a stage in life right now where I want to be playing super competitively, so any offline game modes + events are lovely. You just need to give me a reason to do them.
