Has it always been like this?

That Spooky Ketel Marte was money, so was the Spooky Jasson Dominguez but he was expensive.

I know it's been discussed a bit, but i'm genuinely baffled why content has been both middling and at such unnecessarily irregular intervals during the postseason.
This is only year two for me, but as a former 2K guy, the idea of these lulls and uninspiring content at a time when many eyes on are the sport is so baffling.
Even at their worst 2K would provide some sort of daily content to keep it ticking over, and i know Madden do too.
It's Monday morning where I am, but for the US based guys, i'm sure many would have loved the Guardians program (or the retro) to play on a lazy Sunday arvo leading into the Dodgers/Brewers game.
Instead there's nothing, but tomorrow and the next day we'll get a relative glut.Is this a sign of the ongoing diminution of standards or has it always been like this?
Apologies to those who don't want to see more negativity, i guess i'm just a little disappointed with the state of the game as an already struggling year seems to just be drifting away, rudderless.
They are too concerned with gate keeping the favorite players of the fan base behind programs so u have to spend money or play mlb 10 hours a day

@Dolenz_PSN Thanks mate.
I can't believe I don't remember that, but it would have done the trick again this year to just give us something during a time when many of us just want to be around the game of baseball as much as possible.

Yeah. 18 teams did not make the playoffs. There are probably plenty of people, like me, who are keeping up with the game scores in the playoffs but are not overly interested in those particular cards.
We'll see what programs drop Wed but I don't have high hopes for anything too meaty since they were lumped together as one bullet point and are all releasing the same day which makes me believe that they will be short

I figured that out when I saw how you spelled "favourite" with a "u" in a previous post. How did you come to like American Baseball, and are you a cricket fan?

Remember when they had daily moments? And also daily exchanges for xp.

I’ve played last 4-5 years. This is by far the worst. I didn’t even mind sets and seasons. This year has been straight up garbage. Horrible creative content. Where is extreme? You used to have cool program and artistic creative card series like “snapshot”, Kaiju, ingognito, and Takashi. This year, Vintage, Mural, Cityscape. They all looked the same.
Just garbage all around. Banning people for buying third party stubs. Making tons of expensive Chase cards (all Cardinals btw). Like WTF? SDs needs a major creative overhaul. Especially when you aren’t updating graphics.

Banning people for buying third party stubs.
Well, that was understandable. The answer if you believe the game is too predatory is to not play, not buy third party stubs and continue playing.
Making tons of expensive Chase cards (all Cardinals btw)
I am still shocked that I was able to get them all.
And for those who were tired of the Cardinals getting cards in general you'll be pleased to know that they and the Rangers are the two teams with the longest current gap since they last got a card (24 days during the moonshot drop)

Its more than just the programs, its what I would call the 'meta content'. By that I mean the long term goals that the other content supports.
In this year's game, thats collections. You could say the foam finger programs and Buxton/Devries programs are as well.
The Buxton/Devries 'tasks' are just use a narrow set of cards for an absurdly long time. You get the packs pretty quickly than its just 50 hours of waiting for the final reward. Its just not engaging. Foam fingers are the same way.
That leaves collections. This is better, and motivating for some, but ultimately it comes down to 'accumulate a lot of stubs'. The game becomes a cycle of grind for packs, open your dupes, quick sell dupes, eventually buy expensive cards.
Team Affinity was fantastic meta content but is now gone and was really last great in 2023 (2024 was decent but a bit too frequent for some), and collections used to be more about earning cards through gameplay than accumulating stubs. Sure, you probably needed to buy SOME cards, but it wasnt this need to buy multiple 100k+ cards all the time.
You could argue the xp path is meta content too, but the rewards along the way are just terrible and havent scaled since inning 1.

I am a cricket fan, mate.
The answer to my baseball fandom is Graeme Lloyd.
As a kid he was at my local club and a [censored] legend so whilst I played footy, cricket and basketball most (they had more structure, support and players), i developed a love for the beautiful game of baseball. It was hard to keep it going as we had zero access to MLB so my passion waned, but when I got access I fell in love with Ichiro Suzuki and the rest is history.
It still doesn't come as naturally to me as footy, cricket or basketball, but i just love it and truly believe there isn't a better sport on earth.
