The direction of MLB the Show 26

I feel like they put a ton of effort into the WBC content but yeah its just all about switch hitter collections and chases, and stuff like hall of fame cards and the actual good legend cards in headliners. Programs get generic slop like Moonshot.
Even the milestone programs, which are cool that they get them out so fast, are pretty low effort with just the one card.
-
Cobb and Hornsby were great cards when they were in the game.
-
The game has gotten too goofy for my tastes since after the AS break.
-
Take it with a grain of salt, but i did hear a CC (perhaps KDJ?) say MLB pressured SDS to use more current players.
Besides that, I just think they've taken the path of least resistance by simply cashing in on the meta they have created (by just loading up with costly switchies) rather than address the gameplay issues that cause those metas to be so prevalent.
It's a shame because it makes online so very tedious for me.
Even in the event today i'm seeing people with near all Switch Hitter lineups and when they're not, they'll pinch hit to avoid any R/R or L/L match ups. It's all a bit sad.
-
Focusing on current players doesn't have to be at the expense of legends though.
And they do a lousy job of focusing on current players anyway. No Mets Alonso, McNeil, or Nimmo? No Nats Soto, Harper or Turner? So many ignored relievers.
They went a whole month with no medium/large content drops outside of the lightning program.

The last elite starter we got was Santana two weekend classics ago, it’s just him maybe Degrom and Anibal is good but not elite. We are crazy thin on starting pitching , I can’t believe they didn’t drop a starter as the collection reward or at least have a pitcher as a henchman on way to Benny, didn’t have to be elite elite but like a Bob Gibson or Bob feller would have worked at like 34 vouchers

@w1ck3dx24_PSN It’s really become a game centered around switch hitters, most of whom are portrayed as being significantly better than they ever actually were. There’s an entire generation of gamers out there who genuinely think Willi Castro was ever relevant.

My favorite lie of the year was when they said early on that TA was being removed so they are freed up to do other things....yet they never did any of these 'other things'. The only particularly creative content drop was the poorly implemented FOMO one that required online play. They could have iterated on that structure and removed the FOMO part but nope. Those month long programs like Spooky last year that were well received? Nah, too much effort to do daily content.

I have to wonder if their live content team has been stretched too thin and have to come up with content for both this game and the mobile game?

Its possible.
They did put in a lot of repeatable content this year, more so than typical. Also the long (but exceptionally boring) grinds for Buxton/DeVries. Could be there way of trying to keep us busy.
-
I think it’s pretty clear that resources are very scarce across the board. Whether they were diverted to the mobile game or simply laid off who knows. Either way the product is suffering greatly.
-
But, we need a whole new system. The chase cards and collection cards have to be cards that people have a good reason to use. What's the point otherwise?
So, one of two things has to happen - either change the game so that the meta changes...or give the player new modes that create good reason to use different cards.
-
The parallel system is actually decent this year, as it has always been. The addition of perks to DD cards are a huge benefit for me.

Well, if it is any consolation I have like 5 Chase cards in my lineup

@Dolenz_PSN Did those prices ever come down? I uninstalled when they were all going for like 300-400k stubs

They did some, but they are still expensive.
It took patience and a little pack luck. I still paid a premium for them.
