Showdown should be taken away, permanently.

DD, IMO, is at heart a card collecting game around baseball.
I like getting cards and finishing collections. Those are my main goals. I also like finishing each Inning Path and every program. Consider that an intermediate goal
I also can’t play successfully at higher levels. And I also don’t want this to be a full time job.
I consider myself a “casual”. I can honestly say that, so far, in 2026, DD is not for casuals.

@WackyGrass_PSN I’d bet that the majority of players can beat showdowns. Wanting an entire mode to be removed because you aren’t very good is selfish and frankly, dumb. I’m all for making these cards sellable, so you aren’t locked out from getting them, but taking things away is almost never the answer. I want more things to do, not less. They already removed RTTS and MTO. Let’s not encourage them to continue to give us less options. Go practice.
You guys are really out of touch with how tough this game is for huge majority of people. I would still hit a baseball further than most on here but can't hit a little white ball sitting on the ground. Very few people are really good at video games. They are good at other things like being a Dr, teaching, welding, etc. I think the streamer/cheating universe has clouded people.
Pick a game, any game and the majority of people streaming it are cheating. Hate to burst anyone's bubble.
If SDS was wise, they would print this post and force feed it to everyone at their next concept meeting. Video game companies need to accept two things. First, most customers have about an hour a day (mostly at night after work) to play a game before getting to other things related to family. Second, those few who devote extreme time to master a video game tend to come onto forums like this one and voice overt contempt for those who lodge concerns about degree of difficulty.
Put those two concepts together, and it means companies need to work better at scaling the game's difficulty. But, that only works for offline games. Online versus humans needs to be a level platform and you take your chances. But, offline should allow the game to be tailored for experience.
Last point, anyone who derides others the way I've seen some do here earn my immediate account ban. Such people I'm frankly not interested in hearing from. No one rationally complains about people earning skills in something. But, condescending and taunting people over it earns nothing but rebuke and shunning.
Gaming companies can be pretty dumb if you ask me. Letting streamers have a big say in your game is completely idiotic. Most only care about the views and money.
Take a game like PUBG which has casual and ranked mode. For some reason in ranked they put bronze and silver teams (lowest levels) against teams full of Master players (mostly cheaters cough, cough). Do they not understand this is a quick way to get the bronze and silver players to quit playing? At least MLB The Show has it where if I am a 500 rated player I will not see a 900 rated player in ranked unless the 500 rated player lets the bar go to far or the 900 rated player sandbags which most won't do because an online record in a video game is more important than life itself.

@capardo_XBL Signore Capardo, Paisan. I want you to go ask your wife if I can (virtually) kiss you, you beautiful man. My wife could care less what I do nowadays. Ha ha. No, seriously. Thank you! One false start because I use the Catcher Camera View as a timing mechanism but for some reason I tried Strike Zone but I followed all your advice and I got 17 again! LOL! On the very next try, though, I finally did it. The pack gave me the choice of Jordan or Schwarber and I went with the big lefty and completed the HRD Collection. Thank you, my friend. Now on to completing the AS Collection. I was within one before it was expanded. Oh well. Take care, Rick

Finally finished the HRD Showdown yesterday on my 3rd attempt, because Ramone was throwing like Ramone - hanging fastballs down the middle of the plate, and not throwing half his pitches as balls and also dotting the corners, like he was on the first two tries.
He did that a bit in the 2nd round, but not too bad. People can dismiss it, but if Ramone isn't throwing like himself & you're supposed to score 19 runs or whatever it was, and you get a number of fly balls in a row to line out or die at the warning track, it's possible to have to redo the Showdown.
-
@capardo_XBL sorry, but I didn’t even know what this showdown was all about until I just played it. I don’t know what to tell you, but this thing was essentially a tutorial about how to hit. If you can’t beat this showdown (I would suggest all showdowns, but regardless), you don’t deserve the reward in this program. Whoever Ramona Russell is just throws 79mph and it’s just around the zone the whole time. My 13 year old daughter just hit a few bombs and she doesn’t really play video games let alone The Show. The fact that anyone can complain about “being forced” to spend 22 minutes hitting bombs in BP means that people will literally complain about anything in this game. I have no idea how someone could even slightly enjoy this game if you’re so bad you can’t score runs on this Ramone guy with the best cards in the game.

I personally don't have an issue with showdowns, I ran through the WBC one on my 1st attempt couple days ago to finish the WBC collection. Did a couple Degrom ones for the heck of it. It's not my favorite mode for sure, Annoying yes but difficult no but that's no justification for removing the mode. Making the cards sellable would remove a lot of the hate for this mode. Quite honestly making making some of the offline cards sellable I don't think all of them maybe just the final award ones would clean up a lot of the offline issues.
-
@tear4eddy_PSN yeah not to be mean but unless u have something physically stopping u from being able to do this if u are a “dd player” and can’t do this there’s bigger issues.
-
Seriously? Nearly every swing near a pitch is a homer. Or learn how to bunt and steal etc. This honestly couldn't have been any easier

Maybe to you it was easy but not to other people, obviously you forgot that not everyone is elite at this game
-
@sbchamps17_NSW you don’t have to be elite to hit Ramone. It’s an easy showdown they shouldn’t take more then a couple tries at best.

@WackyGrass_PSN The one program they locked behind a showdown was the hrd one and that requires two full game length showdowns against a pitcher who throws max 82 mph and has the worst possible attribute total in the game. How is that unfair in any way
