Jordan Walker

I’m late to the party on this as I’m sure this was already talked about. How could his clutch on the derby card only be 100 when he hit like 4 in a row on his last ball. That’s the epitome of clutch.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend!

This is a super easy fix and should have been done already imo. Maybe even take the vision up to 80 for winning.

The bottom line is because Power is weighted way too heavily in their forumula so to give him 125/125 power they had to reduce all of his other stats to compensate for it so that they could keep him within the power creep.
Also, honestly we have two power creeps. One is for players up to an OVR value of 98. The other starts at 99. Compare the Walker card to 99 overalls we get in October and November.
Look at this graphic
Ozzie Smith's 92 overall card got 464 more Attribute points to distribute than the 99 Jordan Walker. Why? He has low power.

It’s crazy to see that and just goes to show how broken the game has become. Home runs are the be all end all because nowhere near enough singles, doubles, or triples get down.
The best part is that none of the ratings matter for the CPU. Common pitchers dot and throw well outside their speed ranges. Low power hitters crush home runs. Sub par defenders routinely make diving plays, run down gappers, rob home runs, and gun players out from the outfield fence.
If the coding is going to be as bad as it is then the CPU should at least be playing by the same set of rules as human players. It’s not even that the CPU is difficult, just extremely annoying.

@platewelder_363_PSN wasn't it 6 in a row? lol, but 100% agree

You are taking the attributes to mean can or can't, but that's not how they work, they work more like how often.
Bonds summed it up nicely during the derby, we (meaning him and pujols) arent celebrated for hitting the ball out of the park, any player who steps on a major league field can hit the ball out, no, we are celebrated for consistency for hitting homers regularly and a lot of them. -
It’s home run derby card. It’s gonna be focus on hitting then anything. It’s not to say he is slow or a bad defender it’s just a promo that would focus on hitting over everything. They could have made some of his offensive categories a little higher but this card will be washed out soon most likely.

But it's a 99.
That should not just be an arbitrary value as much as it feels like it at times.
I am not saying that he should be Cal Raleigh from last year. That card was probably too good but, as I have said any number of times over the years, SDS overcorrected. Most people are not complaining about his fielding and speed getting nerfed but 30 less in vision and 25 less in clutch are pretty big offensive nerfs. especially when you consider Walker was batting about 35 points higher than Raleigh at the all star break.

Well a big difference between the two is the narrative surrounding cal last year. He was an absolute monster. And it’s been established they love switch hitters. Another problem is probably due the actual attributes aren’t the same. They added some subcategories of some those which probably pulled for the hitting stats. They probably could have still done better with the card. Reviews I seen of actual gameplay say that his card is still a monster.
