Congratulations SDS!

@rageincage007_XBL The issue is that there is really no good way to solve the bot issue without removing the market from both the app and the website.
The people who are being banned are only banned from using the website and app for market transactions. They can still flip via the market on the console.

The console sucks for flipping. I have a lot of time between customers at work and spend some time on the app or online flipping a few cards. CAPTCHA's are a pain on the website but still better than the console. Maybe something using the thumbprint reader on the phone instead of CAPCHA's? Gotta be a way.
-
@rageincage007_XBL ive been restricted for flipping cards. They haven't caught bots. They have caught multiple people just doing flipping.
-
I'm going to give SDS a kudo here. I hope they are banning people who are employing bots on the community market to ruin the fair transactions. I lump this in the same total negative that I assign to people who hack computer code and use cheats to enhance their online game experiences. Such people deserve nothing less than to be shown the door.
If that fair action causes SDS to lose money, then I will still say they made the correct move, and honestly, I don't think it's an either-or situation in the slightest.
-
@PriorFir4383355_XBL and what about those that are restricted who haven't used a bot because their algorithm is wrong?

Demonstrate where that is the case and I can then join you in criticizing SDS. But, I don't really know you from Adam, and so I cannot condemn anyone without having hard facts before me. Hard fact one: Bots have harmed the integrity of the community market.
-
@PriorFir4383355_XBL I haven't used a bot and my account is restricted. I got restricted I think because I flipped commons last night which had wide margins.
-
They haven't caught bots.
Of course they have.
The bot makers just create new accounts and continue on though, especially 3rd party stub sellers.
-
@Dolenz_PSN okay but technically they are doing more damage to people who aren't doing it.
-
It's been discussed many times in other threads it is probably very hard for their tests to differentiate a Bot from a dedicated flipper.
Do they track the # of transactions? Or Transactions per hour?
Do they test the length of a flipping session?
The number of bids placed vs bids cancelled?Fortunately the app is not the game. It wasn't too long ago that a ban of any kind meant that you could not even play the game.
-
@Dolenz_PSN id love an explanation as to what caused my account to be restricted.
Their algorithm needs tweaking potentially.

The problem with that is if they tell people what caused the red flag to appear that not only tells the players how to avoid getting caught up in it. It would help the botters program around the issue to avoid detection as well.
-
@Dolenz_PSN I guess its a no win but why should I along with others be punished for something we haven't done.
It is going to drive us away from the game.
-
@VOReason1976_XBL blame the cheaters for that

The craziest thing about all of the poor folks that are not "bots" getting banned, is that the "bot" issue still seems to be getting worse and not better. Coincidence? I think not.
I have never been a "flipper" on the market...just dont have that kind of time, but when it take you an hour just to buy a Blake Snell and a Yamamoto to complete LS collection, because you cant make a bid without being outbid in a second or less....yes that is a huge turnoff....
The people and/or businesses that use these bots are obviously very tech savvy, and just continue to create new users when the old ones get banned, becuase they dont care about the game, only acquiring stubs. I fear the only way to really stop this kind of traffic, is to not offer the market online or mobile app, and only on the console.

Aye. Players fighting and arguing in the community forum over this is unfortunate. Anyone that comes to this forum with a restricted account should be able to see past threads where people had accounts restricted, how they had to file support tickets, and how long it took to get a reply (Longgggg). SDS has replied to some of those threads even explaining that you should put in a ticket if you think your account was wrongfully restricted.
So if you’re reading this because your account got restricted, I can tell you it happened to me. I filed a ticket. It took 6 days for the restrictions to be lifted. I got a generic reply that was not insightful. Flipping cards in the marketplace is totally allowed and the app exists to help do that. So blaming people for their accounts getting restricted for using the app as intended is not cool.
The whole situation is lame. It’s like athletes are all drug tested even though most don’t use drugs or never will. But then someone gets a false positive result and gets banned. Then everyone is like that person must be on drugs because they are too fast or playing too well. Lame. Ultimately, it’s upto SDS to deal with the bots and it shouldn’t be an issue that players should have to be discussing like this is the forums.

Since we don't work for SDS, we cannot provide you with that answer, and that is my original point. Sorry, but the internet is not a personal interaction. You are seeking validation from people who cannot provide any. We cannot criticize you nor validate you because we don't have the hard facts with which to do either.
You may be the nicest human being who has drawn breath, or you could be one of the vile people who uses the bot to destroy the community market and ruin the fun for everyone.
And that right there is the total truth of it.

@PsylockeSmythe_XBL boys are most likely 3rd party stub sales and I forget the streamers name but he’s right all sds has to do is make there price slightly above 3rd party pricing they will make more money bots will be gone and the whole issue will be solved because no one will take the risk of getting caught and banned anymore
