What's difference between directionnal and zone

First, that's not a troll question.
With all the good/good line out or pop out with perfectly placed pci, i question myself about the real benefits of playing zone.
Directionnal is not useless if you know how to use it. I already made WS using directionnal last year.Does SDS have already spoke about benefits of playing zone ? Like a longer timing window or better chance of hard contact ?
Because when i get like 10 balls good/good giving poor results like pop up or lazy fly, i really question myself. -
Zone is dominant when the game isn’t broke hence why no half decent player likes the game since MLB 16/17. RNG fest, directional or not.
But I get what you’re saying. Crazy to know you made WS on directional. What kind of batting average did you have? .250ish?

More like 280-300 but my wins were based on strong pitching and situational hitting. For me there's no difference between directionnal and center swingers (pci) if you know how to use directionnal correctly.
And i think that if current WS players played directionnal, they would still make WS easily. The main difference for me that makes me use zone is that directionnal is boring.

I’ve been playing RS in 19 for the last two weeks trying to get to 800 just so I can get the platinum trophy, I’ve used zone hitting and never used directional. In a slump I dropped from just under 700 down to just over 400. With a few wins I’m up over 500 again but I’m considering trying directional hitting to get some wins. I plan to stop as soon as I hit 800. Would directional be a good idea to build up some quick wins?

Directionnal is good if you play bad/not good opponents at pitching and if you are patient. Take time to hit pitch that you want to hit, don't try to be on everything.
Directionnal start to be very challenging when you get to CS division. -
There is no difference, in the outcomes... and a World of difference in the inputs. That’s why the game absolutely sucks right now!
Found myself using Pure Analog hitting and Pulse pitching and getting the same if not better results... Nah, I didn’t sign up for that. I’d rather not play. Add in the terribly clunky fielding and why even try.
Next patch can’t come soon enough!

I use zone hitting if I'm playing online, but if I'm playing moments or games against the CPU I'll switch to directional.

The main difference is with directional you don’t have the ability to hit every type of pitch in every situation. RvR a slider low and away is a very hard pitch to hit, a two seem in on the hands the same thing, and the game represents that as best it can.
If I make the same perfect pitch to a zone player vs directional the averages will be very different. However on a meatball down the middle, both will probably bat about the same. You can’t battle off pitches with directional like you can zone. There is quite a few differences apart from just “BrOkeN GaMe So It DoEsNt MatTeR”

That's true. It's impossible get hits on pitches out of the zone, you can foul but don't get good hits. But do you really think results are the same on a ball pitched down the middle ?

I was struggling so I tried directional for one game and scored 4 runs in the top of the 1st, including a perfect/perfect home run on a ball off the plate inside. My opponent quit so it's a tiny sample size.
What is your approach? I always 'directed' my hitters to RF - I was on everything inside to lefties and outside to righties. Anything else, I just didn't swing.

One is a terrible input system, where you just get rewarded for swinging as early as possible without aiming properly, you can’t make decent contact properly even when you have good timing and perfect/perfect is meaningless. The other one is directional.

I've seen directional hitters hit absolute jacks on pitches on the black low and in, low and away, up and in, up and away. It used to be the case that directional hitters couldn't hit those pitches, but that has certainly changed.

I also made WS last year by using Analog plus Stride. I know its not directional but is close to it. Did it just to prove a friend it can be done. Was hitting well over .320.
