What was the intention of SDS in making catchers useless and allowing everyone to steal?

I have biz Mackie with a fielding mod and 99 pop and 99 arm. There are still people that can run on him left and right. Idk if it's latency or what.
But I still don't feel like I'd be 100% successful with Witt.
These opponents also take leads and NEVER get picked off. I take leads and just tap l2 or whatever to load a steal and I'll occasionally get picked up so I don't take leads since most my offense is hr anyways.
Is there some trick to taking leads and never getting picked off?

I often find when playing events the same run gets scored on me, a late hit bloop by PCA or another 99 speed guy, two steals and a pop fly on a pitch that should never have contact made on it, while often frustrating, I understand why that’s in here, because if you always have to make good contact online, it would drive beginners and new people away.

@ApolloZ_99_MLBTS if you're throwing out people stealing then they don't know what they're doing or using guys with stats below 70. Like maybe 1 in 30 steals I get caught and it's usually because I forget to slide to the outside.

I noticed that the guys that are good at it have figured out how to get a perfect jump every time. I have never been into steals and don’t play RTTS or anything, so I have no idea what they are doing.
I might have to use Realmuto or Biz Mackey and do the fielding mod, but I doubt it will help much.
It is funny how SDS hasn’t dropped any catchers with defensive quirks yet.

@ryguy034753_XBL you aren’t gonna throw everyone out. But you can still throw players out. There are players with 99 speed and 99 steal ofc you aren’t gonna throw them out all the time

Why is there people complaining about how it is hard to steal, and then theres other people saying that it is extremely easy to steal and it shouldn't be like that. Sigh, can we stop complaining about something? Just get a good defensive catcher and try to pick off the 1st/2nd baserunner if they are taking a lead as if they will attempt to steal. And for the others saying that it is hard to steal, maybe don't try to attempt to steal immediately? Press the L1/R1 (I forgot somehow sorry guys.) to take a lead, and then hold down the L2 button and immediately when the strike zone disappears, release the button so that the runner can attempt to steal. I stole with Byron Buxton, Christian Yelich, Bryce Harper, Willie Mcgee, Bobby Witt Jr, etc because they have great jumps. Make sure the runner's speed attribute is at least 70 and the steal attribute at least 65 imo.

Dude, I hate to be rude, but you are arguing for no reason.
People can get a perfect jump every time and they manipulate the base running and fielding mechanics if they get caught in a pitch out by using the freeze mechanic and going to 2nd if you throw behind the runner or going back to first if you throw down to second.
If you don’t have an issue with this at all, than I am speechless.

Would love to see any game where you've thrown out multiple 99 speed 99 stealing players, I just don’t see it in your zero games played online lmao. It’s okay if you got nothing to do on Saturday morning man, larping being a competitive online player is a huge fad on here these days.

I also said you wouldn’t throw every player out. But a proper catcher will definitely help you throw people out. His comment literally contradicts itself in saying people can’t hit but they can run wild on the bases. I get you are an angry guy who loves to word vomit at people but it’s not impossible to semi control the run game. You aren’t gonna catch every single guy stealing. If Kyle schwarber and Josh naylor can steal bases in real life expect that faster players will be able to do in a video game. It’s just simply impossible that this guys lets every player steal on him rampantly.

@ref479ode_PSN I’m doing even just fine with cornerstone Salvador Perez with diamond fielding mod if u want more of an offensive option. If people “hook slide” I’ve learned to just throw the towel in tho there getting that base wether I like it or not.

I played against a guy like this and I changed my defense becuz of it. But then my defense kept resetting and id have to keep setting up again. Was annoying, so I was like.. im done and I quit lol
