Something needs to be done about all the switch hitters

I knew this would be an unpopular post and I’m aware I’m in the minority here, but [censored], I miss the days where every game wasn’t a 10-9 slugfest against the same eight switch hitters.

@sbchamps17_NSW Here here

I don’t blame people I blame SDS. Switch hitters get an inherent advantage AND were made to be higher rated cards than all the others. Even if you don’t know of the bonuses, you would likely take the card with higher stats anyway. Most of the switch hitters have higher stats than their replacements.
They needed some lefty and righty hitters to be the higher rated cards in programs to counter it but it just wouldn’t have pushed the end collections the same way.
Could have easily made Granderson the highest card or Realmuto, but of course it was Happ. Could have made the CityScape collection Jeter or Ortiz. Had to be mantle. Could have made the flashback spotlight anyone. Had to be Chipper. Weekend classic rewards…switch hitters.
Agree with you here. Incentiving players away from so many switch hitters would’ve been a good middle ground solution without imposing a limit or nerfing switch hitter cards

@MarinerMatt01_PSN How about addressing the actual problem?
-
Here's the thing though, pitchers can be outranked by hitters and still be dominant, hitters HAVE to outrank pitchers and can still be very unsuccessful

I’m all for whatever gets people away from using the same eight switch hitters every game.
Though we clearly disagree here, we are both longtime memebers of the community and I appreciate your postsWhat would your solution be?

@MarinerMatt01_PSN you are looking at the top rated players. And i dont mind seeing 400 averages, its a game and should be fun and higher scoring than real baseball. But 400 averages are far from the norm trust me. Anyone with over a combined 300 batting average is a good player in this game. No one wants to sit in a 9 inning game every other game with 2 to 1 scores. Striking out 10 times a game, with a combined 5 hits. Id rather watch paint dry if that was the case. Making pitching even more dominating is a bad idea. They already changed the strike zone because of posts like these.

I’m sorry, but that’s baseball. I get that the majority of the player base doesn’t care about pitching and would rather mash x and play slo pitch softball but some us enjoy the art of pitching and would like to play a somewhat realistic baseball game
-
@MarinerMatt01_PSN it actually is pretty realistic. Most players that play this game do not hit over 300 averages. Id say the average player hits 250 ish good players are over 300, and elite players are over 400. Cheaters are closer to 500 lol.. and what's wrong with this? Its a game good players should hit better.

Yeah could have potentially been a stupid move but I sold off posada. Just can’t justify keeping him in when I could have 100k instead and there’s a free salvy in the game. He was doing fine offensively hitting .313 but defence was hard to watch salvys defence looks better for not much worse offence.

I want to believe that the content team is trying to help the community, since the gameplay director doubled down on PCI shkrinkage, content team is basically giving him the middle finger and releasing all possible switch hitters to combat it
-
Switch hitters aren't to help us, they are to exploit us
-
This is a product of two things:
PCI shrinkage. They can't fix it so their solution is to release switch hitters.
Other being a lot of people can't hit without them so it makes them spend a lot of stubs to get them.
-
@DemIsE4_XBL yeah I hope I don’t regret selling my posada I mean worse case I have enough to buy him back just thought I’d try the free option “salvy”.
-
Until the fix pci shrinkage, the switch hitter lineups will be what you face.

I find pitchers with significant opposite hand h/9 to be quite effective such as Al Leiter.

Yesssss, Nolan McLean too

@Ditka06_MLBTS Those are some really good statements. Hitting is not easy…thats why we chase it and continue to play this game too [censored] much and post on forums in our free time. To further your point, I think SDS has has even kind of regulated how OP switch hitters are. I haven’t come across any switch hitters with the extreme-pull quick swings where the input seems immediate. Swings like Elly and Beltran and especially Happ just seem slightly delayed especially when compared to the likes of those with the “extreme pull”
