I think that because a sinker moves more than a traditional 2 seam or 4 seam fastball, but still has a lot of velocity, there's more movement the hitter has to observe before making the decision to swing or not. A lot of times, it's just that small amount of needed observation from the hitter's perspective before swinging that can cause a later swing. I don't think the sinker is faster than 4SFBs (usually), I think the hitter is just required to observe more movement in sinkers before the pitch reaches home plate.

In reading on this forum and from watching online tutorial videos, I've gathered that elevated sinkers are quite a trend on this game in online play this year.

Why do sinkers below the zone get cranked instead of driven into the ground? Because this game usnt very realistic.

Sinkers are extremely OP. I thought SDS would fix high sinkers this year but they’re basically the same. Looks like a changeup at first then all of the sudden seemingly picks up speed and runs arm side and done. So hard to hit

You would think cutters would be the go to pitch with the legends they brought to the game. Nope klubers sinker is [censored] near untouchable up in the zone on hof and legend.

Bigger issue to me is every pitcher seems to have a sinker. If they can't make it so the pitch is realistic, they could at least limit how many cards have it.

It doesn’t help when the pitch teleports around the strike zone.

To me, the sinker comes out of the hand high, so I read a different pitch than the sinker, once that happens it's too late and I'm behind it. Sinkers high in the zone should stay flat

Haha yea a sinker without the sink is just a slower fastball with less rotation so easier to pick up and get hammered. Obviously and someone said it before at one point, they must not not how to code for pitches to not break in certain points of the strike zone. Pitches do what pitches are supposed to do which is shitty. People just complain about the sinker cause it’s cheesed out to every player, but if u throw any other breaking pitch high it does the same thing, still breaks how it should. Just normal breaking pitchers are slower and easier to pick up. I do agree the sinker in this game has some random late life which makes it hard to time.

It's possible that the sinker is a trendy pitch in recent years. You would think that MLB pitchers in real life are trying a lot of different things (pitches included) to counter all the home runs. I would think, in real life, that the sinker is generally more often used down in the zone to generate ground ball outs, instead of something used up in the zone to blow past late bats.
