Ranked Needs a cap on switch hitters
-
@Graeves-_PSN Limiting switch hitters is like putting a bandaid on an amputated limb. How about fixing the root of the problem?
Preaching to the choir, I don't see a need to limit switch hitters.
IRL MLB doesn't have that rule, neither should a MLB video game IMO. -
@Graeves-_PSN I agree it would be unrealistic to cap this just sucks that there is no lineup diversity in this game… it’s all willi Castro Marte Ozzie j ram lindor. In every single ranked game…

I don't know why people advocate for "rules" in the video game that would be totally fake in terms of real world baseball rules. There is no rule in MLB regarding how many switch hitters one can have in the lineup.
Now, if there is some contrived (artificial) reason why switch hitters have some special advantage in the video game, then it would be reasonable to take a look at that artificial reason. But, phony make believe rules do not need to be put into the game -- there are already too many phony aspects to how the game code functions.
The video game needs to become more realistic, not less realistic.

@PriorFir4383355_XBL I fully agree with this people are gonna complain either way tho it’s what people do best all I can ask for as a baseball fan is a realistic baseball game.

I don’t know if a cap is the solution, but something needs to be done. Tired of facing all switch hitter lineups

@Onix_Savage22_PSN I knew this was gonna happen a few years ago when everyone was complaining about all the captains. That year was great for lineup diversity and they ruined it.

So, this is fairly termed a legal competitive advantage -- and no, I don't play DD so I don't have any person stake in this issue.

@GoozeFn_PSN yes i remember that the most popular one was the Carlos Santana switch captain. but u also had other viable team like the durability team the shortstop team and probably others im forgetting. that still remains one of my favourite shows to date. 23 I think.

Most teams in ranked just spam the same switch hitters. SDS should implement a 3/4 max switch hitter roster construction so it's more balanced with cards and not exploiting opposite handed hitting every batter. This will improve hitter and pitcher strategy. It's gotten so bad.
While on 1 hand yes it is tiresome to see 80% of the players only using switch hitters, but its not like there is an MLB rule against having all switch hitters. Next problem is though is that 1 of the reasons most people use all switch hitters is to negate the PCI shrinkage issue that has been lied about, then claimed they fixed and lied about, then doubled down on by trying to say why it's needed. Personally I don't use all switch hitters because some players I don't have an issue with same handed hitting (trout, Harper, trea, justice), but I also probably have 4 in my lineup up. I feel like the new visual zone has helped some with this though because now alot of less skilled players who just guessed and would get to walk on balls that should've been strikes are having to defend or get struck out. Also I've noticed that really alot of switch hitters minus a few are high contact but less power so far this year.

You would have hated those 80’s and early 90’s Cardinal teams in real life: Smith, Coleman, McGee, Pendleton, Oquendo

@Onix_Savage22_PSN The greatness of captains that year was that they gave us relevant captains throughout the year that could be mixed and matched. We had several cornerstone captains each season that were relevant to the planned content. It’s like they were actually considering how content worked back then. The captains actually had meaningful boosts. Now, captains are dead and basically worthless and so is lineup diversity as a result.

IRL MLB has fights, PED use, among a 1000 other things The Show doesn't/ can't make use of. Such are the limitations of pretending to play ball on the couch/recliner instead of playing IRL. Nothing new there.

@Graeves-_PSN I mean not quite ped use but we do have are own cheating scandal in the show rn.
