For those complaining about Ohtani LS price
-
The price is the way it is because of the little number inside the diamond on the top corner. Thats it.
Not quite. The price is the way it is because you're not just buying one card with Ohtani, you're also buying...

You do realize that we witnessing history right? Something that our grand kids and generations to come will fawn over that we were alive during the ohtani era. He's a hitter that has gone 50/50 before and this year he's pitched 24 IP has an era of .38 WHIP of .75 and averages over a strikeout a inning. It's expensive it sucks and it's a grind to get him but he's doing things that have never been done before in the history of the sport & there has never been a card close to what you can use him for in MLBTS before
You do realize that he is basically worthless now in online play and definitely will be in like a month? This price does not correlate with his worth in online gaming.
$500 real dollars for a virtual card useless both now and especially shortly is a joke. People that say this is no where near Madden are blind. You have the LS cards at ridiculous prices and harder to get stubs. Then you have collections like Jackie (basically every one) where the collection is 50 cards. We will give you 25 by playing but the others you have to buy or get lucky with pack pulls. It is the only baseball game and I love baseball but as a company and a product it really is pretty [censored].

I take a look at how fast stuff is moving over profit margin. I’d rather move quantity for profit over sweating out and getting grimy over one big card.
-
@LHUBison58_XBL yeah that’s what I’ve been doing I’ve been doing live series bronzes all year that’s been my money maker. I go for guys on teams without diamonds and it’s been working like a dream for me until about 2 days ago. Margins are so tight rn it’s not even worth my time.
-
The problem isn’t Ohtani being special. It’s that he literally costs $500. Think about that - $500 for a player that loses all value 1 year later. SDS controls the prices of everything. If they wanted to he would be 100k by the end of the week. But that’s not gonna happen because MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!
That's incorrect. He could cost time (in flipping) or skill (earning him via BR/Ranked/WC).
Those complaining about the cost are just too lazy to earn him the other ways.
I respect SaveFerris. I think he brings alot of good knowledge to this forum. Just wanted to say that so this isn’t personal…
I should be able to achieve everything in a video game by simply PLAYING THE GAME. I refuse to spend 12 hours a day flipping cards for a virtual currency to buy cards that last a short time. That is WAAAAY too much hamster on a wheel for me. I honestly miss the old days where if you wanted the best cards you could get them just by grinding the game. ZERO stubs required for Immortals. As far as skill goes - The things you listed - Making WS, Going 10-0, ect…According to SDS that’s less than 1% of player base so the “GeT GoOd” argument is absurd. There should be a way to earn every card without either spending cash or flipping cards for hours upon hours. It’s a baseball game, We should be playing baseball.
-
100% agree. Save Ferris is an elitist in this game and wants exclusive rewards and trophies for being good at the game.
It’s a video game and should be for the masses not the super competitive sweats that live on the game. People can do what they want with their time but video games are a way for most of us to chill, relax and have fun. Escape from our real life demands and responsibilities and maybe bond with our kids around baseball and video games.
There are ways to be competitive in this game without locking out those that just want to have fun or are new to the game. Most of us have no problem with grinding even if it takes longer.

You're literally complaining that you have to grind longer. "Everyone gets a trophy" mentality.
And I'm by no means an elitist. I'm a barely passable player. I just don't think I'm entitled to all the good cards. I have to go out and "earn" them either through brute force (Earn 8 million packs) or through Flipapalooza.
I appreciate @the412smoke_xbl's kind words. And if you feel that the work required to earn Ohtani isn't worth it, that's a perfectly valid opinion. I just bristle at the argument that Ohtani "isn't worth it." The price is what the market will bear. Enough people think he is worth it to spend that amount.
-
@SaveFarris_PSN Let them eat cake.
-
Didn't we have several 1,000,000 stubs players a few years back?
-
Not quite. The price is the way it is because you're not just buying one card with Ohtani, you're also buying...
Plus... You get 5,000 stubs for completing the NL West

You are wrong. Without:
Flipping
Ridiculous pack luck
10 win br runs
spending real moneyYou are not getting the LS done for a VERY long time. If you get 5k per mini seasons run which is probably around what most people get (certainly what I have been around the last 25 runs), you would have to do 140 runs. That is ridiculous any way you look at it and that is just for one player. I haven't played mini seasons in over a week. What's the point?
-

When I started DD in 2020, there were several that ended the year at 1,000,000. I think Ted Williams was one...

Ridiculous pack luck
10 win br runs
spending real moneyTo be fair, @savefarris_psn said "brute force/flipapaloza".
So... Not wrong... But it's painful.
I've managed to get LS done every year I've played DD. But I'm pretty discouraged at this point. I did try the route of grinding WBC mini-season, but I've run out of stream. I've flipped in the past, but it's just more painful this year IMO.
So, I'm just going to wait until I get my 50 pack from the current multiplayer program. I know Ohtani is in there. I can feel it.

It says that, but I only got 2k each division
-
Not everyone should be able to complete this collection within the first month of playing. I’m glad some of yall actually have to grind to get that card instead of seeing him and 3 99s within the first couple weeks
-
My goal each year in DD is to finish as many collections as I can. (Any collection requiring I play online or Showdown to finish is a no go for me - Spring Collection last year….Grrrrr). The GOAT collection I get a couple of them…that’s fine.
The year I can’t complete “my goal” is the year I’ll move on from The Show. I wasn’t sure I’d make it last year, but in September, I did. Again, that was fine.
I’m not sure I’ll make it this year, but, again, I’ll give it time. I do wish progress was faster/easier. Seems slower/harder this year for an offline only grinder.
-
Bro, there are plenty of other ways to grind stubs offline without just boring yourself with MS. I’m NMS and haven’t had great luck at pulls, probably about average, and should have LS done by next weekend. I don’t flip on the market, I do bare minimum online content, but play different modes other than MS over and over and over. Stop bitching about how long it’s taking you with the insane method you’re using.

@Onix_Savage22_PSN Currently I am buying commons for teams that don't have diamonds. So Rockies, White Sox, Giants, and Nationals. I buy at 5 and sell at 25. So I am making 22 measly stubs per flip but it adds up. I start with 2000 stubs (400 buys) and that becomes 8800 stubs. I do this on my phone app. If I am at home playing I may flip diamond equipment in between games. Point is it adds up fast and there is no need to spend real money.
I have given up trying to buy/flip unlockables. I am never able to buy one to flip one.
-
Only matters if you play online. For offline players why does anyone care what cards we have or how long it took to get them?
-
@SavageSteve74_PSN What modes are you talking about?
