@go4stros25_PSN O'Brien's been on a tear for the Cards. Not sure if Topps has a Topps Now card coming out for him, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him get some love in the next April Spotlight program. I'm sure that would make @dolenz_psn pretty happy as well.

Agreed. He has been very good so far. It just seems like he would be easy for SDS to overlook.

Although if they want to use bWAR as a guidepost Walker is still in the running.

    1.Walker • STL 1.9
    2. Hoerner • CHC 1.7
    3. Pages • LAD 1.7
    4. McGonigle • DET 1.6
    5. Alvarez • HOU 1.6
    6. Neto • LAA 1.4
    7. Lopez • MIA 1.4
    8. Turang • MIL 1.4
    9. Olson • ATL 1.4
    10. Trout • LAA 1.3

@Dolenz_PSN that’s true, though they’ll use fWAR instead if they want (think Jarren Duran last year)

True, and if they due that then we are back to Yordan Alvarez who is certainly worthy and has a .4 lead over the next closest competitor (Ben Rice)

Die hard cardinals fan....I LOVE WALKER THIS YEAR. But it has to be Mason Miller right???? But you can only do so much to a reliever at this point in the power creep so it's probably going to be Yordan for the name value over say Max Muncy or Jordan Walker. By the way, look at Jordan Walkers Baseball Savant page, WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU'VE SEEN A 23 YEAR OLD HAVE THAT MUCH RED? PROBABLY TROUT!

Has to? No but he definitely has the numbers for it.

There are 13 relievers with 0.00 ERA at this point.
Varland and O'Brien are only .2 and .3 behind him in FWAR
O'Brien is the only pitcher with an ERA below 1.00 who has not walked anyone.

    Where Miller crushes them all though is K/9 - 21.44 to Varland's 13.86 and O'Brien's 10.22

Interesting note: Jeff Hoffman is 2nd in K/9 at 20.03 but has a 6.97 ERA.

@Dolenz_PSN Has any pitcher ever had the kind of stretch Miller has had to start the season in terms of K rate?

I don't know I am too lazy to look it up. We do have Jeff Hoffman at 20.03 and Mason Montgomery at 19.44 this year.

So we have relievers close but those other two are not successful at all based on their ERA

Besides, I feel like Mason Miller might be one of those cards that they have other plans for because people love using that card so much.

@Dolenz_PSN Yeah, I meant more the combination of k’s and just pure dominance.

I feel Ben Rice is the favorite right now. May not end up with the best month but if its close enough he will get the Carroll treatment from last year

O’Brian is having a great year I won’t discredit him but if a reliever is in the discussion for the lightning card it can’t be anybody but Mason miller I personally want Yordan. Rice wouldn’t be bad either.

@Teak2112_MLBTS I would rock a 90+ overall Rice until replaced by a better card as a Yankees fan

@virusts_PSN no Yordan Alvarez is ridiculous let alone mason miller. I do like the Soriano prediction tho he has been on another planet.

A few years ago guys like that, desired by the community and destined to get better cards (including eventual 99s) were never in the monthly awards programs.

They have lightened that restriction the last few years though as they seem have no problem giving guys 4 or 5 cards in a year.

I think at this point I’d be happy with a Walker or Obrien either this week or in the program path

Yordan to me even as biased as I am as a Cardinal fan is the most deserving and everyone loves to play with him - plus I got to see firsthand him dominate us on TV.

So many deserving candidates with Mason miller, pages, rice etc that have been listed

    @Onix_Savage22_PSN

It’s because the monthly awards are never about who has the absolute best month. Sometimes it’s about what players had a great month that will more likely not replicate it. Spread out between hitters, relief pitchers, and starters. Plus I expect Miller or Yordon to get upgraded to 90-91 in the first player rating update. With daily inside edge their cards would be probably better than their monthly ones.

So I am guessing they will be left off because of how close they would be to their live counterpoints. They’ll get all-star and finest cards. Maybe playoffs and others.

@virusts_PSN that’s very fair a walker card would be rly nice as long as he gets defensive capability.

He better have an arm cannon. Plus he’s been stealing bases. He’d be a cool [censored] RF to add to my squad but I’m biased. Maybe 75-80 speed with a cannon? Sign me up.

He’s become an elite defender it’s so fun to watch.
